Folic Acid

• Separate zinc supplements by at least 2 hours from folic acid.1
• Vitamin B12 levels may be affected with long term folic acid use, monitor levels.2
• Avoid smoking.3
• Folic acid metabolism may be inhibited by deficiencies in pyridoxine, vitamin C and E.4
• There are many drugs which may decrease folic acid levels in the body. Some examples are: antibiotics, anticonvulsants, azulfidine, barbiturates, antituberculosis and others.5
• There are no herbal considerations at this time.6
