One of the last remaining truly unbiased investigative journalists out there today is Glenn Greenwald, a very liberal-leaning former attorney who has no love lost for President Donald Trump.
In recent days he has been attempting to report on the stunning bombshell evidence first published by the New York Post in mid-October implicating Joe and Hunter Biden and family in self-enriching acts of corruption that were so troubling some federal agencies, including the U.S. Treasury Department, flagged them as “suspicious.”
But while a few outlets followed up on the Post’s initial reporting, the vast majority of ‘mainstream media’ ignored the revelations because a) they are all in the tank for Biden and Democrats in general; and b) they are so politicized they no longer see their role as a constitutionally guaranteed free press that exists to inform the masses about, among other things, corrupt officials.
Greenwald, famous for providing a media gateway from former NSA contractor and whistleblower Edward Snowden in 2013 (which was, by the way, during the Obama administration — remember, this guy’s a liberal), was attempting to follow up on the bombshell revelations regarding the Bidens with a summary of what had been reported as well as new, breaking information involving a former Biden family business partner, Tony Bubulinski.
But the U.S.-based editors of The Intercept, an outlet he co-founded and at which he was contractually guaranteed editorial freedom, refused to publish his story because they, too, are all in the tank for Biden.
It was a horrendous breach of contract, yes, but also journalistic integrity and ethics: How can an editorial staff justify not allowing a correspondent and co-founding editor publish legitimate, corroborated evidence of corruption involving a man who wants to become our president and those of his family? Some of the evidence incriminates Joe Biden in that it appears as though he and son Hunter may be beholden to Communist China, an enemy of the U.S.

In a resignation letter he posted online at a site called Substack, Greenwald laid out his reasoning:
The final, precipitating cause is that The Intercept’s editors, in violation of my contractual right of editorial freedom, censored an article I wrote this week, refusing to publish it unless I remove all sections critical of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, the candidate vehemently supported by all New-York-based Intercept editors involved in this effort at suppression.
The censored article, based on recently revealed emails and witness testimony, raised critical questions about Biden’s conduct. Not content to simply prevent publication of this article at the media outlet I co-founded, these Intercept editors also demanded that I refrain from exercising a separate contractual right to publish this article with any other publication.
Greenwald went on to note that he didn’t object to the editorial staff’s “disagreements with my views of what this Biden evidence shows.” He even “encouraged” them “to air their disagreements” by writing their own stories critiquing his story and then just let “readers decide who is right, the way any confident and healthy media outlet would.
But no. That didn’t happen because “modern media outlets do not air dissent; they quash it. So censorship of my article, rather than engagement with it, was the path these Biden-supporting editors chose.”
Greenwald eventually published his story and that is here. In it, he indicts the majority of U.S. media for using “falsehoods to defend Joe Biden from Hunter’s emails,” including fake claims of ‘Russian disinformation.”
But Greenwald’s incident makes it perfectly clear (and we’ve been saying this now for some time): There is no more ‘free press’ in America insofar as outlets that allow and expect their reporters, editors and correspondents to keep us fully and impartially informed.
The networks, CNN, MSNBC, etc., along with the major outlets like the NYTimes, WaPo, etc., are no different and no better than state-run media in authoritarian hellholes like China, Cuba and Venezuela.
