NBC News' Chuck Todd and POLITICO's Jonathan Martin disclosed this during a recent episode of Todd's "Chuck Toddcast," which had Martin as a guest. The two said that conversations within the DNC for years have included Biden's rough mental shape, adding that the matter was an "open secret" and a "simmering conversation."
Martin expressed skepticism of Biden dropping out of the campaign despite the terrible outcome of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization press conference, where the president introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the POLITICO journalist, this is because "some of the politicians in the Democratic Party have shown in the last few days that a lot of them simply don't have the courage of their convictions. They simply aren't going to stand up and say in public what they have been telling folks like us in private for years."
Todd also recounted one senior cabinet secretary asking him out of the blue in 2022 whether he thinks Biden can run for a second term. The CBS News journalist said the secretary is in a better position to answer given that they have "more interaction" with Biden. But the secretary disclosed that they "don't have a lot of interaction" with the president.
"This is one of those classic open secrets, right? It's the story everybody knows and everybody was afraid to talk about."

The duo also talked on about how the mainstream media's (MSM) grand cover-up of the matter is laughable. While the conversation about Biden's mental decline was suppressed for years, many outlets have already written about it.
"In other words, [the MSM] have sat on this bombshell information for years and not only hid it from the public – but they also said nothing as their colleagues attacked anyone who dared bring up the idea that Biden was enfeebled," Martin stated. Calls for Biden to drop out are becoming LOUDER
Calls for Biden to drop out of the presidential race, even from his own part, have become louder as the weeks pass. These followed the incumbent's catastrophic performance during the June 27 presidential debate where he and former President Donald Trump faced off. But even though the debate is clear proof that Biden no longer qualifies for a second term, his colleagues in the Democratic Party still won't suggest it out loud.
Meanwhile, sources close to the president told renowned journalist Carl Bernstein that there had been as many as 20 occasions over the past year when the president exhibited mental decline symptoms in the 81-year-old commander-in-chief's close circle.
"These are people, several of them who are very close to President Biden, who loved him, have supported him and among them are some people who would raise a lot of money for him," he said. During his time at the Washington Post, he and his colleague Bob Woodward were credited with breaking the Watergate scandal – leading to the impeachment of the late former President Richard Nixon in the 1970s.
Bernstein alleged that his sources said over the past year they had warned Ron Klain, Biden's former White House chief of staff, of this serious mental decline. "There have been numerous incidences where the president has lost his train of thought, can't pick it up again," the journalist said.
"Yes, he's great when we see him. But he also has these inexplicable moments that we're very concerned about. And you, Ron Klain, and the First Family, we need to talk about this.
