The American College of Pediatricians (ACP) issued a statement calling for the following major medical organizations to "immediately stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex:"

American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
According to the ACP, there is profuse evidence, including a growing cohort of new research, to show that promoting transgender mutilation as the solution to gender dysphoria is destroying people's lives.
The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) claims that modifying children's bodies will cure their gender dysphoria and bring them newfound gender euphoria, but the AAP says that modern science proves otherwise.
The ACP wants the aforementioned medical groups to "follow the science and their European professional colleagues and immediately stop" pushing physical and mental mutilation as the cure for gender dysphoria.
"Instead, these organizations should recommend comprehensive evaluations and therapies aimed at identifying and addressing underlying psychological co-morbidities and neurodiversity that often predispose to and accompany gender dysphoria," the ACP says.

Sign the ACP declaration to protect children from transgender mutilation
The ACP put together a website called Doctors Protecting Children that contains both the statement and a declaration with many scientific citations showing that transgender mutilation is not the answer.
The declaration affirms, among other things, that:
- Sex is an innate trait that cannot be changed through mutilation and drugging
- The practice of good medicine relies on understanding that one's sex cannot be changed
- There are biological differences between males and females that are unchangeable, rendering so-called gender ideology a fairy tale
- All medical decisions must be made based on biological sex rather than thoughts and feelings about one's "gender identity" or "gender expression"
The declaration also states with extensive scientific citations that:
- Most children with gender dysphoria will simply get over it as they grow up
- There is no way to apply responsible informed consent to gender mutilation procedures because of children's age and a lack of scientific backing
- The "gender affirming" protocols endorsed by WPATH are "demonstrably flawed and pediatric patients can be harmed when subjected to those protocols"
- There are serious long-term risks associated with social transition, puberty blockers, masculinizing and feminizing hormones and surgeries, i.e., sterility
- There is "widespread medical malpractice on children and vulnerable adults at global transgender healthcare authority"
- "Gender affirming" interventions provide little to no benefit for adolescents suffering from gender dysphoria
- Psychotherapy for underlying mental health issues should be the first line of treatment for children experiencing discomfort with their biological sex
- European countries like England, Scotland, Sweden, Denmark and Finland that no longer allow transgender mutilation are seeing success in treating gender dysphoria as a mental illness
