According to poll aggregator FiveThirtyEight, Biden's approval rating dropped to 37.4 percent on June 10 as support from non-White voters dwindled and the administration faced more intense criticism from progressive and anti-war Americans over its response to Israel's military actions in Gaza.
Biden's approval rating initially sank following the tumultuous withdrawal of the United States Armed Forces from Afghanistan in 2021 and has not rebounded since then. His previous lowest rating occurred in July 2022, coinciding with gas prices exceeding $5 per gallon. But this latest average poll marks his lowest point ever recorded by the organization.
Concurrently, the average poll also reveals that his disapproval rating reached a new peak of 56.8 percent, resulting in a net negative approval rating of 19.4 percentage points.
This new low in Biden's approval rating is attributed to a recent YouGov poll conducted from June 9 to 11, which recorded his approval at 36 percent and disapproval at 59 percent. But then, FiveThirtyEight adjusted these figures to 36 percent approval and 60 percent disapproval. (Related: GALLUP POLL: President Joe Biden’s job approval rating slips to 38%.)
"Biden just hit a new all-time low in approval [37.4 percent) at 538," FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver posted on X, formerly Twitter, on June 10. "Dropping out would be a big risk. But there's some threshold below which continuing to run is a bigger risk. Are we there yet? I don't know. But it's more than fair to ask."

"What's clearer IMO [in my opinion] is that Democrats would have been better served if Biden had decided a year ago not to seek a second term, which would have allowed them to have some semblance of a primary process and give voters a say among the many popular Democrats across the country," Silver said.
This record-low approval rating places Biden far behind other recent presidents at a similar point in their tenures.
For instance, Biden's approval is three points lower than former President Donald Trump's on day 1,238 of his presidency and a full ten points below that of former President Barack Obama. Even one-term former President Jimmy Carter, often cited for his struggles with public opinion, held an approval rating two points higher than Biden's at this stage of his presidency.
But despite all the negative results in his poll, Biden still continues to project confidence on his campaign trails.
"We’re building the biggest grassroots operation in the history of politics. Already, this is about grassroots, we have more than two million individuals, as of the end of May, 2 million individuals, roughly 90 percent of all contributors, who contributed less than $200. Two million. Two million," Biden said during a campaign trail in Connecticut, claiming that his administration has been making progress with the potential for further achievements.
"We’ve raised more money than any president has at this point because of people like you. But the point is it’s a groundswell. It’s all over America. Two million individual contributors," he added. "And the polls are moving our way."
