The hateful slander has gotten so bad that Gun Owners of America (GOA) Senior Vice President Erich Pratt has issued a statement in Rittenhouse's defense, supporting his use of a firearm to protect himself against Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Antifa criminal violence.
"Based upon publicly available video evidence, it appears that Kyle Rittenhouse was acting in self-defense," Pratt wrote. "And despite fake news media reports, it is clear that Kyle was not firing indiscriminately into a crowd."
GOA has since reached out to both Rittenhouse's attorneys and the Lake County Public Defender's office, as well as to its own use of force experts, as part of an ongoing investigation into the case.
"In the meantime, we demand fair treatment from the media, because up till now, their coverage has been horrific," Pratt added. "With no evidence, they have labeled Kyle as a racist and a vigilante, but that just indicates how the media elites view all gun owners."
Pratt is further calling out the mainstream media for praising and even glorifying BLM and Antifa rioters and violent offenders, whom they are falsely referring to as "protesters."
"The media excuses the violent torching of American cities as 'mostly peaceful' protests," Pratt notes, explaining that for months the media has been vilifying law-abiding gun owners for trying to protect their neighborhoods against BLM and Antifa terrorism.
"And they now minimize the hatefulness of Kyle's attackers, calling them mere 'protestors.'"
One of the media's talking points in vilifying Rittenhouse is that he apparently traveled from nearby Illinois to help protect Kenosha from being destroyed at the hands of BLM and Antifa terrorists, as if he did not belong there.
If this is the case, then why is the same media not calling out the "protesters," many of whom also came from out of town or were brought in on buses by unknown groups to cause trouble?
"But if Leftists want to question why Kyle Rittenhouse was in Kenosha, then they should begin by asking that question to the 'protestors' who have criminal records and who have come from out of town to terrorize business owners," Pratt explains.
The bottom line, Pratt says, is that all humans, regardless of skin color, have a God-given right to protect themselves, which is exactly what Rittenhouse was doing. But instead of recognizing and honoring this right, the mainstream media has chosen to vilify Rittenhouse, using anti-white rhetoric to further drive a wedge between the BLM movement and white conservatives.
"When a person's life is under attack," Pratt says, "the Constitution protects their ability to use firearms without 'infringement' in the defense of that life."
In case you missed it, Rittenhouse opened fire on three assailants who attacked him on August 25 in Kenosha. Two of these three assailants ended up dying, and Rittenhouse has since been arrested and is now being charged with murder.
Rittenhouse's attorneys will of course be arguing in court that their client acted in self-defense, which he clearly did based on video evidence of the incident. Rittenhouse was also kicked and bashed over the head with a skateboard by his assailants, prompting him to do what was necessary to protect his own life.
Gun owners will continue to be under attack as long as the left controls the media narrative. To keep up with the latest news on this front, check out Guns.news.
