Here's Maddow's post-Trump win rant:
We've faced crises before as a country. Sometimes they're, you know, malfunctions. Sometimes they're the brink of nuclear war. Most times it's somewhere in between. But we rise to the occasion, we always do. We improvise, we do what we can, we step up. There are protests on the streets tonight, big ones. There's controversy already over how the president-elect is treating the press on his trip to the White House tomorrow. There are doomsday plans going into action all over this country right now in terms of civil rights. ... It's a big to-do list.
On November 14, 2016, The Washington Post’s Eugene Robinson echoed Rush Limbaugh and hoped Trump failed:
If a normal Republican had been elected, I could say the polite and socially acceptable thing, something like “I didn’t support So-and-So, but he will be my president, too, and I wish him success.” But I cannot wish Trump success in rounding up and deporting millions of people or banning Muslims from entering the country or reinstituting torture as an instrument of U.S. policy. In these and other divisive, cruel, unwise initiatives, I wish him failure....
Unity?
On November 14, 2016, Avengers director Joss Whedon demanded that Trump not be “allowed” to take office.
Unity?
Remember all of this as Democrats and liberals in the media demand a quick concession and immediate “unity” to the wishes of Biden and Democrats.
