She took to Twitter to voice her frustration, writing: “The media’s near total silence about the physical violence being perpetrated against conservatives is shameful & dangerous. Just [imagine] the outrage and indignation if this went the other way.”
Supporters of President Trump gathered in and around Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C. on Saturday to participate in the “Million MAGA March” to show their support for the president as he challenges the results of the election. Participants carried signs with slogans like “Make America Fair Again”, “Trump 2020” and “Stop the Steal.”
In video footage of the event, Trump supporters can be seen being physically attacked by left wing supporters. In one incident, a man was punched from behind by another man who was holding an anti-Trump sign before other people stepped in and stomped on his head. Around 20 people were arrested.
Ivanka called for the instigators of the violence to be “condemned and prosecuted.”
Her brother, Donald Trump Jr., expressed a similar view, writing: “The media’s silence on the violence against Trump supporters is deafening. After four years of calling them Nazis, at this point they might as well just dox them all or add them to AOC’s lists for the Gulags. They are complicit in the violence. They are the worst of the worst.”
Over the weekend, the President himself tweeted about the events and took the media to task for not reporting on the Washington clashes. He tweeted: “The Silent Media is the Enemy of the People!!!”
He also retweeted a message in which Republican U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin of New York called it a “total media blackout” as leftists carried out assaults against Trump supporters that he described as “abhorrent.”
Although the March was largely peaceful during the day, chaos took hold as the sun went down. One male demonstrator was reportedly stabbed multiple times at the intersection of New York Ave and 11th Street. Daily Caller contributor Matthew Miller described an “all out brawl between Proud Boys and Antifa in the streets.” The two groups can be seen in videos posted by Miller trading blows at an intersection while onlookers shouted profanities.
In another incident, anti-Trump demonstrators threw eggs at Trump supporters and stole signs, banners and hats and set them on fire. An elderly woman who was carrying a Trump flag was harassed, families were shouted at and people were sucker-punched.
In some locations, police had to physically separate groups of Trump supporters and counter protesters bearing signs and banners with Black Lives Matter and Antifa slogans. Many videos of the violence have emerged on Twitter, with one showing a group of antifa members burning a flag near the Black Lives Matter Plaza north of the White House.
Footage of the incidents brought back bad memories for Kelley Paul, the wife of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul. The pair was surrounded by an angry mob of protesters after they left the Republican National Convention at the White House in August.
She tweeted: “Want an example of media bias? When @RandPaul and I spoke out about our mob assault, the @AP reported our claim was ‘without evidence’ despite 10 minutes of video.”
Ivanka is right: The mainstream media would be all over this if the roles were reversed. But since they never miss an opportunity to attack Trump and those aligned with him in their reporting, it should come as no surprise that they apparently endorse people attacking Trump supporters physically as well.
