What federal workers, managers and functionaries think about the president shouldn’t matter, though: As head of the executive branch, he’s their boss, period, and there’s no two ways about it.
But because the federal bureaucracy is so vast — so-called “Big Government” really is a thing — it is impossible for one president to manage. That’s why he has got to rely on career bureaucrats who are apolitical to carry out his policies and when he can’t, his appointees to ensure his agenda is enacted.
In recent days, a report surfaced that one of the country’s nuclear labs was forcing white employees to undergo what can only be properly described as racial propaganda: “Critical Race Theory,” which essentially teaches that all whites are bad, racist and bigoted, and as such, must be denounced, controlled and suppressed.
Yes, it’s really that bad.
The ‘training,’ pervasive throughout the federal bureaucracy as it turns out, was first exposed by City Journal writer and Heritage Foundation fellow Christopher Rufo. After President Trump ordered the Office of Management and Budget to instruct all federal agencies to “cease and desist” any and all government training programs that include references to “white privilege” or “critical race theory,” officials at the the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention must have thought that the agency was exempted or something because they planned to continue the course.

Disgusting, without any doubt. That a federal government agency would be shoveling this overtly racist drivel in 2020 is unbelievable.
“We are in the midst of a pandemic and the CDC is prioritizing a critical race theory training program that is in direct violation of a presidential order. @CDCDirector Robert Redfield must immediately terminate this program—and focus on COVID-19, where CDC has been disastrous,” Rufo wrote on Twitter Sept. 14.
Well, President Trump did not wait for Redfield to act. As Rufo notes in a column for the New York Post this week, it’s time for the Right to wake up and realize that what’s going on isn’t just ‘politically correct’ nonsense, it’s an all-out effort by the Marxist Left to launch a cultural revolution. (Related: HHS head Michael Caputo tells Americans to “buy ammunition” before election, warns that anti-Trump lunatics will launch an armed insurrection against America.)
“The ideology and racial narrative that underly these programs pose a grave threat to the ideal of colorblind justice under the law enshrined in our constitutional system. If CRT’s charges against America were true, then the vicious violence of antifa and Black Lives Matter protests would be justified,” he wrote.
“In fact, the charges are slanderous. Yet conservative leaders have largely failed to recognize the severity of the problem. Many on the right have been slow to oppose the demands of groups such as BLM, either out of fear of being labeled racist or because they don’t understanding the ideological agenda of these groups,” Rufo added.
Why? The excuse is always the same: Cowardice.
While the Left couldn’t care less about what they are called, people on the Right are deathly afraid of being ‘labeled’ an ‘-ist’ of any sort. And yet, Leftists know that and even count on that to force conservatives into silence.
That has to change because, literally, the future of our country is at stake like nothing most of us have seen in our lifetimes. Even Americans who lived through the tumultuous ‘60s say things are worse — that we are more divided now, today — than then.
Some compare today’s divisions to those before the Civil War. They may be right; think about what you disagree with the Left on and ask yourself, “On what could we see eye-to-eye?”
You know the answer to that.
It’s a ‘culture war’ at the moment. But understand that ‘their side’ won’t quit. They have to be made to quit, and that requires resistance.
