(NaturalNews) Prof. Martin Rocken, Director of the Department of Dermatology of the
University Medical Center Tubingen, and his team of researchers, have shown, reportedly for the first time, "that the immune system is able to drive tumors and tumor cells into a form of permanent dormancy."
This is a nod towards what natural health advocates have been saying for some time, that improving the immune system can improve the state of health. The body, when working optimally, is supposed to naturally seek out foreign invaders and put them to rest, is it not?
Without destroying cancer cells, it is said, immunotherapy can prevent tumor development, that is, the cells are put in a state of permanent dormancy, or senescence.
And as the Rocken group discovered, the senescence program works on human beings as well. They discovered that with a combination of both interferon and tumor necrosis factor, two well known signalling molecules, with zero sign of cell destruction, that cancer cells stopped growing in vivo (and as it turns out, regressing malignant tumors of cancer patients didn't fare well either).
"It is very likely that we can't win the 'War on cancer' by exclusive military means." Prof. Rocken continues, "Instead, it will be an important milestone to restore the bodies' immune control of malignant tumors."
This new approach can be looked at as a mostly side effect-free cancer therapy that is "life-prolonging."
Seven natural immune system boosters
In the article presented in October 2011 by Myra Hope from
My Blessed Life magazine, she states that "all the extra sugar that kids {and adults} indulge in this time of year also contributes to a compromised immune system." So what foods can
boost the immune system naturally?
1) Lemon juice - to help set the proper pH level that is more favoring towards healthy bacteria than harmful bacteria and viruses.
2) Essential oils - for immune system boosting include: bergamot, cedarwood, camomile, clary sage, cypress, eucalyptus, ginger, lavender, peppermint and tea tree.
3) Raw fruits and veggies - raw produce generally has higher nutritional content compared to cooked foods and the nutrients aid in healing and detoxification.
4) Water - drink plenty of water as it makes up our blood and most of who we are.
5) Rest - well rested people are said to have an immunity advantage as the
body is said to heal best during rest.
6) Sunlight and fresh air - walking or outdoor exercise will bring in fresh air to your lungs, try deep breathing in a forest, and take in much needed vitamin D from the sun.
7) Medicinal mushrooms - like the chaga mushroom are said to provide the missing nutrients to deprived white blood cells.
