Functional medicine physician Dr. Basima Williams talked about the dangers of EMF exposure and how to protect one's self from it in a recent interview with Mike Adams in the "Health Ranger Report."
Williams, a board-certified family medicine doctor and a leading expert in the field of EMF (electromagnetic field) exposure, sounded the alarm on the pervasive and potentially dangerous levels of EMF radiation that surround people daily. She emphasized the urgent need for awareness and proactive measures to protect one's self from this invisible menace.
"The exposure problem is very significant. In fact, it is so significant that we no longer have to do something called a double-blind study, where we have one population not exposed to a certain thing and another population exposed," she told Adams. (Related: Health Ranger Report: Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet warns about the dangers of 5G and EMF radiation.)
"But in this particular scenario, we really have no unexposed population to do any studies on, and so we have EMF all around us. They're invisible."
This lack of a control group underscores the pervasive nature of EMF exposure. From computers and laptops to cell phones and smart TVs, every device that plugs into the wall emits some degree of electromagnetic fields. When combined with Wi-Fi, the exposure becomes even more extensive, with towers, routers and smart meters contributing to the invisible web of EMF that surrounds people.
"The closer you are to the EMF source, the worse the EMF exposure is," Williams told the Health Ranger. "So, knowing where your EMF sources are and knowing how to block them and an increased distance between you and them is of vital importance."
According to the inverse square rule, doubling your distance from a radiation source can reduce your exposure by 75 percent. However, Williams pointed out that many people carry their phones in their pockets, exposing themselves to constant radiation. While this radiation is non-ionizing, it still poses significant risks over chronic exposure.
Williams continued that one of the primary dangers of EMF exposure is its effect on voltage-gated calcium channels. These channels are crucial for maintaining cellular health, and their disruption can lead to an influx of calcium into cells.
"When you have these calcium channels being affected by EMF, they're opening up, and it's allowing calcium at higher levels than normal," she explained. This influx of calcium, she continued, can cause cellular damage, leading to a range of health issues including headaches, lack of focus, ADHD, memory issues and even heart palpitations.
The effects of EMF exposure are not limited to humans. Williams highlighted the lack of controlled studies on insects and animals, noting that there are few studies for insects and animals living outside that are having even more of the EMF exposure with the presence of 5G towers. This raises concerns about the wider ecological impact of EMF exposure.
So, how can people protect themselves from this invisible threat? Williams provided several practical solutions. The functional medicine doctor stressed that "distance is your friend" as per the inverse square rule.
Keeping your cell phone away as well as protecting yourself with layers of EMF protection will definitely decrease your exposure. She also advised turning off routers at night, avoiding carrying cell phones on the body and using beanies and blankets with EMF-blocking Faraday materials.
Nutritional solutions also play a crucial role in mitigating the effects of EMF exposure. She recommends a diet rich in vegetables, berries and healthy fats – particularly omega-3s, which can help reduce inflammation and reactive oxygen species. Fasting can also help clean out cells and decrease reactive oxygen species at the cellular level.
