The show commissioned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the BBC focuses on the adventures of six-year-old anthropomorphic puppy Bluey and her family's daily life in Brisbane, the capital of Australia's Queensland state. "The show is known for its engaging stories that explore the dynamics of family life," 100 Percent Fed Up wrote. "It has garnered significant attention for its ability to capture the hearts of both children and adults alike."
But one episode titled "The Sign" captured the attention of concerned parents – and not in a good way. This is because the said episode that aired on April 15 revealed how LGBT ideas were inserted into the program.
According to Pink News, the said episode "made history" for mentioning "lesbian moms" – the parents of Bluey's friend Pretzel, a chihuahua. The LGBT news outlet lauded the inclusion of Pretzel's lesbian parents in the episode, describing it as "one step forward to making 'Bluey' a more inclusive and representative depiction of the world for children."
But 100 Percent Fed Up remarked: "Others, however, have expressed skepticism and concern over the inclusion of such characters in a show aimed at young audiences. Critics argue that introducing LGBT themes in children's programming is inappropriate and could be seen as pushing a political agenda." "As for the introduction of the lesbian characters, it was a deliberate decision by the show’s creators to include more diverse representation in the 'Bluey' universe. While some see this as a positive step toward normalizing different family structures and promoting inclusivity, others view it as an unnecessary politicization of children's entertainment."
Following the episode's airing, Daily Wire culture reporter and mother Megan Basham took to social media to rebuke the show's LGBT pandering.
"I'll be honest – sometimes, the glee LGBT activists take at seeing the destruction of something that was once wholesome, something that championed mothers and fathers and children's need for both, is really demoralizing," she wrote on X. "I wondered if the relentless pressure the media was putting on the makers of this show would work. Sadly, now we know."
Basham also responded to a critic: "I love this response to parent complaints about smuggling LGBT marketing into their preschool shows. 'You can't shield them forever!' OK, how about just until they're old enough to spell their own names? [Would] that be OK? Also, the subtext here is always the same – give us access to your children!"
In May 2023, Daily Wire contributor and podcast host Matt Walsh lauded "Bluey" for its refusal to go woke and yield to leftist pressure. During an episode of "The Matt Walsh Show," the host praised the portrayal of Bandit – Bluey's father – as one that is "attentive and engaged." According to him, "Bluey" is a "wholesome children's show" and because of this, "[the] woke crowd is absolutely determined to ruin it."
"This is the Left's rules for [children's] entertainment. It cannot be normal. It cannot be wholesome," the Daily Wire contributor remarked. In response to criticism about "Bluey" failing to include "queer" dogs, Walsh remarked that the makers of the show resolved "to not turn the show into a vehicle for sexual indoctrination." But given the recent mention of "lesbian moms" in the "Bluey" episode, Walsh may need to rethink his remarks about the show being used to indoctrinate its young viewers.
Watch this clip from the children's show "CoComelon Lane" that shows the character Nico having two dads, another clear example of LGBT indoctrination in children's media.
