This 'Border Convoy' launches August 1 at the City Hall in Murrieta, Calif

(NaturalNews) Two alternative media outlets are working to organize "a coalition of citizens" to join in support of a "Border Convoy" that will launch Aug. 1, beginning at the City Hall in Murrieta, California, and conclude more than 1,500 miles later in McAllen, Texas.

The purpose of the Aug. 1-9 event, say organizers from Liberty News and the Guerilla Media Network (GMN), is to draw attention to the worsening crisis of illegal immigration along the U.S. southwest border. They are inviting all citizens to come join them to help secure the border, and those wishing to do so can register their vehicle for the event at BorderConvoy.com.

"We are a coalition of citizens who share a deep concern for the invasion currently happening unchecked at our nation's borders," says the group's website. "Our core group of organizers are a part of the Murrieta Border Patrol blockade who now seek to positively impact the immigration dialogue by supporting local communities taking a stand against the federal government."

'Bringing the spirit of Murrieta with us'

Continuing, the group said, "Unlike our federal government, we support the work our Border Patrol Agents have been doing and continue to do. Our coalition calls on Americans to join those already defending the border and help stop government-funded human trafficking."

"Bringing the spirit of Murrieta with us, we'll encourage communities to rise up and take a stand against unconstitutional federal incursions," said the group. "Our initial border convoy will begin in Murrieta, CA on August 1 and head towards Laredo, TX, stopping to support citizen border patrols along the way."

While the group says it is not releasing some route information "for security purposes," there is a rough outline of the route and stopping points along the way, with dates and times. That can be seen here: BorderConvoy.com.

The group is encouraging anyone concerned about the growing humanitarian crisis along the border to sign up to participate. The sign-up information will be used only to "contact you about daily departure/meeting points, route changes, RV/campgrounds where convoy team will overnight and other relevant information."

Registered vehicles will also be provided with official convoy side-panel "resticker" graphics that are paint-safe and will identify the vehicle as a part of the convoy, said the group.

Pete Santelli, of GMN, will provide live streaming coverage of the event online. It, too, will begin Aug. 1.

This is Obama's crisis

For weeks, wave after wave of illegal aliens, many of them children but many of them also criminals and dangerous gang members, have been streaming across the U.S. southwest border, prompted in large part by changes to U.S. immigration law by President Obama. In 2012, the president issued an executive directive loosening deportation requirements for illegal alien minors.

About two years ago, in June 2012, Obama signed an order permitting hundreds of thousands of minors brought to the country illegally by their parents to remain in the U.S. so they could work and go to school.

The action does not provide citizenship, nor was it designed as a long-term fix, the president said.

"They are Americans in their heart, in their minds, in every single way but one: on paper," Obama said in announcing the new policy in the White House Rose Garden. He said he was taking "a temporary stopgap measure" that would "lift the shadow of deportation from these young people" and make immigration policy "more fair, more efficient and more just."

He did not consult with Congress. Instead, the White House insisted that the president was using existing authority as head of the Executive Branch to make the change.

While that is a matter for debate, the message heard south of the U.S. border in places like El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala was that anyone who could set foot on American soil would be permitted to stay. It was a message that Obama was warned about a year before the crisis began.
