Credit card debt hits record $1.17 trillion, New York Fed research shows

This is according to the Quarterly Report on Household Debt and Credit from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Center for Microeconomic Data, which noted that the $147 billion increase in household debt amounts to a 0.8 percent increase in the total household debt at the end of the third quarter, which is now $17.94 trillion.
