NASA releases stunning audio of eerie sounds taken from flyby of Jupiter’s moon, Ganymede

The 50-second audio clip was taken on Juno's flyby of Ganymede on June 7 during the spacecraft's closest approach yet to Jupiter’s moon. This summer, NASA announced that the Juno spacecraft would be flying within 645 miles of Ganymede’s surface, providing a unique opportunity to study the moon.

Scientists at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL) found these mega-ripples by means of seismic imaging carried out by a petroleum firm. They looked at soil 5,000 feet below the surface of central Louisiana and found the 50-feet-high ripples spaced half a mile apart.
