Gabbard calls Trump the “Peace President” despite his support of attacks on Yemen and Gaza
04/04/2025 // Ramon Tomey // 1.7K Views

  • DNI Tulsi Gabbard labeled Donald Trump the "President of Peace" for his Middle East diplomacy (e.g., Abraham Accords) and pledged to end global conflicts, contrasting him with Joe Biden.
  • But Trump's record undermines this claim — he supports U.S. airstrikes in Yemen (killing civilians) and backs Israel's assault on Gaza, which has caused mass Palestinian casualties.
  • Once a vocal critic of U.S. involvement in Yemen, she now endorses Trump's unauthorized military actions, urging global cooperation against Houthi rebels.
  • In 2019, Gabbard co-sponsored a War Powers Resolution to halt U.S. involvement in Yemen, which Trump vetoed; she now ignores her prior stance on congressional oversight.
  • By legitimizing Trump's militarism, Gabbard whitewashes policies that exacerbate Middle East violence, risking broader conflict – a reversal of her earlier anti-war principles.

Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard has claimed that President Donald Trump is the "President of Peace" – despite the 47th chief executive supporting attacks on Yemen and the Gaza Strip.

"President Trump is the President of Peace," she wrote on X Saturday, March 29. "He is ending bloodshed across the world and will deliver lasting peace in the Middle East."

Gabbard also pointed out that Trump will succeed where former President Joe Biden failed. However, the claim of Trump being a "peace president" easily falls apart – given his support for the ongoing bombing campaign against the Houthi rebels in Yemen and for Israel's devastating military operations against the Palestinian people.

The former congresswoman for Hawaii's praise appears tied to Trump's reference to "relentless diplomacy" in the Middle East, particularly the Abraham Accords. But while the accords normalized relations between Israel and some Arab states, they did nothing to address the root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Meanwhile, Trump's administration has escalated military action in Yemen. U.S. forces have conducted near-daily airstrikes against Houthi rebels in retaliation for their attacks on Red Sea shipping and Israel. These bombings carried out without congressional approval have killed at least 53 people, including women and children. (Related: Trump vows "total annihilation" of Houthis as U.S. airstrikes pound Yemen.)

Moreover, Israel continues its relentless assault on Gaza – with nary a word of condemnation from the U.S. president. Trump's backing of the displacement and the genocide of the Palestinians, which has left tens of thousands dead, is hardly the hallmark of a "peace president."

Gabbard's sudden embrace of militarism reeks of political opportunism

This is a far cry from the Gabbard who once railed against the military-industrial complex for bombing "innocent people in countries like Yemen" without congressional debate. As a Democratic congresswoman for the Aloha State, she was one of the most vocal critics of U.S. involvement in Yemen.

In a 2018 interview with The Real News, she lambasted U.S. support for the conflict. "It is absolutely outrageous that the United States has continued its support for years now for Saudi Arabia's genocidal war in Yemen that has killed thousands and thousands of innocent Yemeni people and caused mass starvation," she told the outlet's Sharmini Peries at the time.

Gabbard also repeatedly emphasized that U.S. participation in the war was unconstitutional without congressional authorization – a principle she now ignores under Trump.

In 2019, she and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) put forward a War Powers Resolution to end U.S. involvement in Yemen. But Trump vetoed the measure, calling it "an unnecessary, dangerous attempt to weaken my constitutional authorities."

Six years later, Khanna called out Trump. "Trump promised to end endless wars – now he's bombing Yemen without Congressional approval," the California congressman wrote on X. "I stood up when Biden did it, and I'll stand up now."

In contrast, Gabbard has not only remained silent – but has actively encouraged further military escalation. During a recent interview with NDTV, she urged other nations to join the U.S. in attacking the Houthis. "Our country and other countries should not be in a position to reroute commerce going through that area simply because of the threat that exists," the DNI told the Indian news outlet.

Big whoop precedent - employee praising her employer. Not dawg shot its owner (opposite to common sense) kind of news. Now he can sniff her neck like he did drag Giuliani's (look it up). We've already been there. War criminal BO learned from the news one morning in 2009 (boy was he puzzled, what the hell) that he won the Peace Nobel Prize after bombing Afghanistan and Iraq (aka European warped sense of humor, of course).
