Shortly after the first assassination attempt against Trump at a July campaign rally, Musk endorsed the former president. Since then, the Big Tech billionaire has played an active role in campaigning for Trump. To support his efforts, Musk launched the super PAC, America PAC, which has so far contributed over $75 million to Trump's campaign. He has also boosted conservative policies on his social media platform X, and held a series of town halls in Pennsylvania. Additionally, Musk promised to give $1 million to Pennsylvania voters who sign the petition of America PAC until Election Day.
In a recent town hall event, Musk stood alongside Republican Senate candidate businessman David McCormick and gave a $1 million check to a randomly selected audience member. He then addressed the personal risks he faces due to his support for political figures, particularly Trump.
"So, dramatically increasing my risk of being assassinated and engaging in politics are not what I want to do," Musk told the crowd. "I do not have a death wish, but the stakes are so high that I really feel I have no choice but to do it, and that's the reason."
Following the Pennsylvania event, Musk shared a screenshot on X of an article from the German magazine Der Spiegel. The article featured a manipulated image of Musk's face combined with Trump's, alongside a headline that labeled him "public enemy number two." The news outlet even accused him of undermining liberal democracy.
"With their relentless hit pieces, legacy mainstream media are actively encouraging the assassination of @realDonaldTrump and now me," Musk wrote.
In an interview with Tucker Carlson on Oct. 8, Musk admitted that he is now "all in the deep end [on Trump]" even "in the hopefully unlikely event that he [Trump] loses." He also acknowledged the personal risks associated with aligning with the former president, but do not mind it.
During the interview, he also broke his silence on a now-deleted tweet about Harris, where he provocatively claimed that no one would ever bother attempting to assassinate her because she is merely a puppet of a larger political machine.
"Nobody tries to assassinate a puppet," Musk told Carlson. "She's safe. Like, they tried to kill Trump twice with actual guns and bullets."
Musk went on to explain that Trump inherently has the "constitution of an ox," even though he doesn't work out and consumes "cheeseburgers and Diet Coke and stuff. I think he [Trump] just inherently has a strong constitution," Musk said, adding that he is of "sound mind and body and strong backbone" after two assassination attempts.
