Evidence of alien life could be made public next month, says filmmaker

Telescopes on Earth may have discovered evidence of intelligent alien life, and the evidence could be made public in less than a month.

This is according to filmmaker Simon Holland, who has worked on documentaries for the BBC and National Aeronautics and Space Administration-funded projects. He said that an Oxford University-supported program searching for extraterrestrial signals has quietly identified "non-human intelligence in our galaxy." (Related: NASA scientist is “absolutely certain” there is ALIEN LIFE in the universe.)

The signal, which was a five-hour-long burst of radio waves, appeared to be from a region around Proxima Centauri, the nearest star from Earth other than the sun at about 4.2 light years away.

The Oxford team has confirmed they are examining the signal but have not disclosed the possible source.

"They are looking for details, hence the delay in publishing the news," Holland said in an interview with the Daily Mail about the strange radio signal, which has been hotly debated ever since astronomers first identified it on April 29, 2019.

Holland characterized the signal as being in the "low information zone," a term coined by skeptic Mick West to explain cases where minimum data makes it all but impossible for science to exclude even the most incredible theories.

"The technical hurdles faced are that the signal is very weak," Holland said.

Evidence shows signal may have come from an advanced alien species

Holland, citing a source with personal knowledge from within the Oxford-headed nonprofit project Breakthrough Listen, is convinced that evidence is rising in favor of the theory that this signal came from an advanced alien species.

"My contact is a senior EU [European Union] radio telescope administrator. We have found a non-human extraterrestrial intelligence in our galaxy and people don't know about it," Holland said.

Breakthrough Listen started as a $100-million nonprofit research project started by the Soviet-born Israeli entrepreneur, investor and physicist Yuri Milner in January 2016.

Its radio telescope-based search for extraterrestrial intelligence attempts are just one part of the billionaire's broader lunar expedition program, Breakthrough Initiatives.

As stated by Holland, Breakthrough Listen is on the verge of confirming that its frontrunner for a message from an extraterrestrial civilization, BLC-1 (Breakthrough Listen candidate 1), is the real thing.

The groundbreaking claims need important evidence, and astronomers are now racing to collect more supporting facts to disclose this discovery.

However, Holland said the Chinese may try to beat them to it.

"This is breaking news, as of yesterday, but the Chinese might be pipping them to the post, with their, FAST [Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope] program. It's the largest telescope in the world since Arecibo," Holland said in a recent interview with The Mirror.

The Chinese are reportedly aware of the coordinates of the target object called BLC-1 and are competing against the Oxford-based project to be the first to publish the announcement.

Holland shared that BLC-1 is seen as the most promising because it seems to come from a "single-point source."
