He based his sermon on the First Letter of St. Paul to St. Timothy in the New Testament.
"Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content," it states. "But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
According to the Bible nutrition educator, the key phrase in this passage is "the love of money being the root of all kinds of evil" (1 Timothy 6:10). When people are caught up in the money spiral, they worship it and fall into the temptation of money and the material things it can buy. This results in these people having their priorities out of balance.
People should be able to understand the difference between God's money and economy, and that of man's. The economy of God is rooted in abundance and multiplication, while the economy of man is rooted in illusion and deception. (Related: Sermon 3: Mike Adams explains the difference between MAN'S ECONOMY and GOD'S ECONOMY.)
"The people who focus on money, they tend to abandon the other areas of their life that matter: personal improvement, personal health, family live, contributing to society in meaningful ways," the founder of Natural News and Brighteon.com said. "A lot of people want wealth because they want to use it to acquire the things that make them feel superior to others around them."
Moreover, he remarked that money-driven people believe that they will be happy with enough material goods. But ultimately, this idea that money can buy happiness is an absolute delusion. Even the passage Adams based his sermon on instructs people to rely on the economy of God to be truly happy.
The Bible nutrition educator also took note that the stock market is man's con game, while God's money comes in the form of gold and silver that He created. Gold cannot be counterfeit by man, and has intrinsic properties and value that make it inherently desirable in spite of its scarcity. Both gold and silver meet all the definitions of real money or currency, unlike the dollar.
"In other words, a store of value and something that cannot be counterfeited by some government authority. If it can be counterfeited, it's not money. It doesn't qualify," Adams explained. He also mentioned that people who want their money to work for them have fallen into a deception rooted in the "Beast system."
Ultimately, the apostle to the Gentiles leaves this advice to St. Timothy: "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life." (1 Timothy 6:17-19)
