Since Germany has no Second Amendment allowing citizens to carry firearms for their own protection, the next best thing, according to Berlin police, is for people who are being attacked to fight back by trying to "irritate the perpetrator through unexpected behavior such as singing."
"A screenshot of our homepage has been circulating for a few days, according to which we recommend that in the event of an attack, you irritate the perpetrator through unexpected behavior, such as singing," reads a recent tweet from law enforcement in Berlin. "This is recommended by the professional associations for psychiatry, among others."
"However, this advice does not correspond to our police experience and has therefore no longer been part of our recommendations since 2023. The flyer was already updated, now our website is too."

Roughly 60% of all violent crimes in Germany are committed by illegals
The original advice to sing as a form of self-defense against violent assault was mercilessly mocked online. Many people thought it was some kind of joke that was not to be taken seriously.
Even though Berlin police learned last year that the advice was not working, they left it up on their website for a good long while before eventually succumbing to all the mockery by taking it down.
Every day in Berlin, thanks to the constant stream of illegal migrants flooding Europe's economic powerhouse, there are 10 knife attacks. Last year, there were 48,200 total physical assaults in Berlin, the highest figure in 10 years.
"According to Berlin police, 3,482 knife attacks were recorded in the city last year. In 918 cases, people were seriously injured," one European media outlet reported. "Over half of the suspects, 53.5 percent, did not have a German passport."
"Only 25 percent of Berliners do not have German citizenship, showing the disproportionately high role of foreigners in such crimes. In addition, the data shows that 16 percent of the 'German' suspects have a dual passport. Even those German suspects with only a German passport, many of them have a foreign background through their parents or grandparents."
Roughly 60 percent of all violent crimes in Germany are committed by illegal migrants, this despite comprising just 14.6 percent of the overall population – sound familiar?
Out of the current total of 190,605 suspects across the entirety of Germany, an astounding 111,517 of these are foreigners without a German passport. In other words, illegal migrants are responsible for the vast majority of violent crimes in Germany.
Germany's migrant crisis is fueling a resurgence of public support for the populist right-leaning AfD party, which is now the second-largest political party in Germany. The political establishment there has done much to try to stop the AfD from even existing, but it is stronger than ever with more Germans supporting right-wing politics today than at any other time since 1945.
"When they say 'far right,' they mean regular people," one commenter noted about how the corporate media loves to refer to AfD as being "far-right" or "fascist."
"Imagine going to Tokyo and complaining that all the political leaders were Asian," wrote another about the hypocrisy of leftists only demanding that white countries "diversify" their leadership.
"I am a female AfD voter from West Germany and I vote AfD because they are pro-peace, pro-life, and pro-direct democracy and referendums, which we don't have so far in Germany," wrote another.
