The National Pulse disclosed the official's name as Sneha Nair, special assistant at the DOE's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). She was appointed to the position in February, following a stint at the Washington, D.C.-based Stimson Center think tank.
Nair reportedly links "queer theory" to nuclear disarmament, asserting that it can reshape perceptions of nuclear weapons traditionally used as security tools. According to her, queer theory highlights the harms caused by nuclear weapons – such as displacement, illness and trauma. It also challenges the view that nuclear deterrence improves national security. Nair is also a proponent of incorporating woke diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) concepts into nuclear security, noting its importance in improving both workplace culture and national security. She argues that DEI, more broadly, "is essential for creating effective nuclear policy."
"Collectively, these principles [of DEI] can work to mitigate counterproductive work behavior and prevent disgruntled employees from becoming insider threats," Nair claimed in an April 2023 article examined by Fox News.
The NNSA official has also criticized existing security clearance processes, suggesting that they unfairly discourage qualified applicants with foreign ties due to racial biases. Interestingly, this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black – as the Stimson Center where she previously worked also has ties to foreign entities. The think tank has reportedly received funding from the Open Society Foundations owned by Hungarian globalist billionaire George Soros and the Embassy of Qatar.
Nair's appointment at the Energy Department's NSSA comes two years after the non-binary Sam Brinton joined the agency. Brinton made the news in June 2022 when he was appointed as the deputy assistant secretary of spent fuel and waste disposition at the DOE's Office of Nuclear Energy.
"A lot of people ask, 'What in the world does your gender identity have to do with nuclear waste?' And I will respond with, 'I am given the opportunity to serve my country as I am,'" he told Brittany Jones-Cooper of Yahoo Lifestyle in an October 2022 interview.
"We'll be able to make sure that the nuclear waste that we have around the country is adequately stored, adequately transported and adequately disposed of by centering the needs of the communities themselves. The [DOE] has failed in the past to adequately protect individuals. I need to recognize that history while I try to change the future."
However, the Energy Department suspended Brinton in November 2022 following reports of the official stealing luggage from airport carousels. He was fired from the DOE the month after, concurrent with reports that he stole three pieces of luggage in various airports.
In July, Brinton entered a guilty plea that spared him jail time for all three charges of luggage theft. According to the Washington Free Beacon, Brinton would have spent up to 20 years behind bars for the felony charges.
"According to prosecutors, Brinton entered into an adult diversion program – which requires him to undergo mental health treatment, write a letter of apology and complete 50 hours of community service helping the elderly," the Free Beacon said.
