According to Modernity News, the vice president "managed to draw a crowd to a venue bigger than a high school gym, in an effort to match Trump's rally optics" during the July 30 rally. However, as many of the attendees left the venue as soon as Harris opened her mouth to speak.
Footage that made the rounds on social media showed people streaming for the exits at the Georgia State Convocation Center in Atlanta, just minutes after the vice president took the stage. Independent journalist Savanah Hernandez noted that the attendees who made a dash for the exits basically showed up for the free concert. The said concert, which featured rappers Megan Thee Stallion and Quavo, lasted longer than Harris' actual speech.
"She spoke for maybe 30 minutes, so it was a pretty short speech. I was honest surprised to see people leaving so quickly, and [I] started filming after seeing continuous streams of people leaving fairly quickly after seeing her," Hernandez posted on X.
"Were people at Kamala's rally for her or for Megan Thee Stallion's concert? After people started leaving 10 minutes into Kamala's speech, I would say there's some validity to the rumors that people were there mainly for the celebrity appearances."
Breitbart News reported that Megan Thee Stallion (born Megan Jovon Ruth Pete) twerked and gyrated during the campaign rally while wearing a costume similar to the signature pantsuit Harris wears. Starbuck: Megan Thee Stallion's performance shows America's dignity is GONE
Independent filmmaker Robby Starbuck wrote on X: "Megan Thee Stallion just performed at a Kamala presidential campaign rally. Any dignity America had left is officially dead. This is such a great example for someone running for president to set for young girls, and certainly doesn't perpetrate a culture that has failed the Black community for decades.
"[Harris] wants youth stuck in a cycle of pain where they never see their full potential and lose themselves to mindless filth. This keeps them dependent on government, which means it keeps them voting Democrat. Evil.
"What does this teach young girls about their value in life? What does this teach young men about respecting women? [Harris] is perpetuating and celebrating hedonism."
Steve Watson of Modernity News remarked: "What does it say about the presumptive Democratic nominee that the 'entertainment' consisted of this person shaking her ass around and rapping?" He also compared Megan Thee Stallion's performance to the speech given by professional wrestler Hulk Hogan (born Terry Gene Bollea) during the last day of the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on July 18.
Hogan, a wrestler who shot to fame during his stint at the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) promotion, mentioned the challenges faced by former President Donald Trump. These include the cases against him pushed by progressive prosecutors, and the July 13 failed assassination attempt on the real estate mogul. The six-time WWE champion then ripped apart his shirt, calling on Americans to "let Trumpamania run wild."
Watson concluded by asking his audience: "What is a more healthy cultural signifier of America? Is it Hogan [giving] a promo about the greatness of the American dream … or is it a plastic-enhanced degenerate shaking her ass?"
