Texas rancher sues DHS over “massive flood” of illegal immigrants passing through his property

A Texas rancher and a Kinney County sheriff have filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) due to unprecedented levels of illegal immigration under its watch.

The lawsuit, filed by the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) on behalf of Michael Vickers, a veterinarian and owner of a 1,000-acre ranch in Brooks County, seeks to stop the border policies of the administration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The lawsuit, which also includes Atascosa County and Kinney County and the latter's sheriff, Brad Coe, alleges that the White House's policies have intentionally undermined border security to allow a surge of illegal immigrants into the United States.

"By this time, it is glaringly obvious to all that the Biden administration has deliberately crashed border security in order to flood the country with as many illegal aliens as possible," IRLI executive director Dale Wilcox said. "This is no mere policy failure, or just a violation of statutes, but flagrant disobedience to the Constitution."

The case specifically highlighted the use of parole to admit nearly 1.2 million migrants since 2023. It asserted that illegal aliens frequently damage the fences and gates of Vickers' ranch, leading to over $50,000 in additional repair costs since 2021. Vickers also incurred expenses for mitigating migrants' environmental damages, which compromised livestock, food and water sources.

"Aliens also deposit tons of trash and litter as they traverse Plaintiffs’ ranch, which compromises food and water sources for livestock. For instance, Plaintiff Vickers has autopsied cows with their rumen (large stomach) impacted with plastic bags and trash. Cattle also escape through cut fences and gates torn down by illegal aliens," the lawsuit stated. (Related: Violent crime increases in remote parts of Arizona as illegal "fighting-age males" continue to enter undetected.)

Moreover, the lawsuit stressed the security threat for Vickers and his wife, who have had to rely on dogs for protection against illegal aliens, including members of criminal gangs like MS-13, Puro Tango Blast, Hermanos de Pistoleros Latinos and the Mexican Mafia.

The lawsuit also stated that Vickers "must always be armed with a pistol and rifle in order to feel safe due to the presence of criminal groups facilitating illegal migration."

Another Texas rancher earlier called Biden and Mayorkas TRAITORS over failed border security

Earlier this year, another Texas rancher named Wayne Knight called Biden and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas "traitors" for the same reason.

Knight was interviewed by Fox News correspondent Lawrence Jones from Eagle Pass, Texas. They witnessed a military-aged man scaling a fence topped with razor wire using discarded clothing to navigate sharp barriers with minimal injuries.

"This is incredible," Knight said. "And I see the same thing on the ranch. All the trash and the debris and the damage. I see that and I'm 20 miles south of here and I see the same thing there as what you're seeing here."

In frustration, Knight did not mince a word when Jones asked what message he would send to Mayorkas.

"That he's a traitor. He's an absolute traitor," Knight said. "He lies under oath. He says that the border is secure. It's not. He took an oath to protect us, and he's not doing it… The whole administration is the same way. Even our president, the president of the United States, I call him a traitor too."

Jones also asked Knight about his views on Biden's attempt to sue Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who has led efforts to allow Texas police officers to arrest and jail illegal immigrants for violating immigration laws.

"It's proof that he doesn't care," Knight said of the president. "It's crazy. Our governor is trying to protect us and take care of us here on our own homeland. But yet our federal government is going to try to keep him from doing it? Treason."

Furthermore, Knight argued that the Biden-Harris administration's handling of the border crisis is just driven by political motives.

"It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that it's nothing but a vote," Knight told Jones. "He claims he's going to give all this stuff, and they're going to praise him, so they're going to vote for him."
