LAME DUCK: Joe Biden has canceled 9 upcoming trips since withdrawing from presidential race

Since President Joe Biden's shock announcement that he was withdrawing from November's presidential race on Sunday, July 21, the lame duck president has canceled nine official upcoming trips.

A White House source who spoke with the New York Post reported that the Biden administration has not provided any official reason why the White House canceled the trips, although it should be noted that Biden has been isolating in his family's summer home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, after testing positive for the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). (Related: Political analysts: Biden's withdrawal from presidential race has left the Democrats IN TURMOIL.)

But following Biden's announcement that he will no longer be running for reelection, the White House reported that he has decided to extend his isolation in Rehoboth Beach until Wednesday, July 24.

However, White House Physician Dr. Kevin O'Connor reported on Monday, July 22, that Biden had all but recovered from the coronavirus and that he "continues to perform all of his presidential duties" from isolation.

"President Biden completed his 10th dose of Paxlovid this morning," said Connor in a letter released on Monday. "His symptoms have almost resolved completely. His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remain absolutely normal. His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear."

Biden canceled presidential visits, campaign stops and meetings with foreign dignitaries

Biden was scheduled to leave Rehoboth Beach on Monday for California, and from there he would make his way to Denver, Colorado, and then to Houston and Austin in Texas.

"They started canceling stuff when he announced he wasn't seeking reelection," said the White House source, who added that the trips were meant to be both presidential stops and part of the Biden campaign. "He was supposed to leave today [Monday] to start the West Coast trip, but they extended his stay in Rehoboth until the 24th."

Houston Mayor John Whitmire, a lifelong Democrat, was supposed to receive Biden on Thursday, July 25, to discuss citywide recovery efforts following the onslaught of Hurricane Beryl.

"I don't know if the press knows it, but President Biden was going to be here Thursday to recognize our preparation," Whitmire reported back on Sunday.

Furthermore, Biden was also expected to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, July 22, before also canceling this meeting.

Following his stops to the West Coast, Biden's next scheduled trip is tentatively set for July 31 and is supposed to be with Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party's new presumptive nominee since Biden's withdrawal. The White House has yet to announce where Biden and Harris will be going.

The next day, Aug. 1, Biden is set to travel to Chicago. After this, he does not have any trips planned until the Democratic National Convention, also in Chicago, from Aug. 19 to 22.

Biden has not been seen in public for a week

Biden has not been seen in public since the evening of Wednesday, July 18, the same day he was diagnosed with COVID-19. After the diagnosis, the 81-year-old president was seen struggling just to get off of Air Force One and into his motorcade.

On Monday, speaking at the White House, Harris claimed that Biden was recovering well and that the chief executive "wanted to be here today." She reportedly flew to Delaware to meet with campaign staff as she takes over Democratic Party's 2024 bid following Biden's exit. "He is feeling much better and recovering fast, and he looks forward to getting back on the road."

Biden's lack of physical presence or video address – apart from his announcement regarding his withdrawal – has alarmed many regarding his whereabouts and his health. Many Republican members of Congress are now demanding a "proof of life" check from the White House.
