The survey, conducted among 1,130 registered voters on June 28 and 29, has found that 72 percent of respondents express doubts about Biden's fitness to serve, a sentiment that has grown significantly even within his party to 46 percent. This marks a significant rise from February, when only 63 percent of voters and 36 percent of Democrats felt Biden should not run for president.
Results of the poll show that 86 percent of respondents believe Biden should step aside because of his old age, 71 percent because of his overall performance in office, 66 percent because of his record as president and 59 percent because of his ability to campaign effectively. (Related: Biden's catastrophic performance in the debate raises more questions about his fitness for office.)
Moreover, 47 percent of respondents believe Trump presented his ideas more clearly, 46 percent believe he appeared more presidential, 44 percent believe he inspired greater confidence and 43 percent believe he explained his policies and plans clearly during the debate. All this, compared to the 21 percent, 28 percent, 18 percent and 35 percent that Biden got, respectively.
Aside from the increasing number of voters who believe Biden should step aside, some Democratic officials suggested the same after the debate.

According to several reports, the Democratic Party panicked when Biden grappled with a hoarse voice and stumbled over words and moments during the presidential debate on June 27. Democrats were also alarmed that Biden struggled to maintain coherence and faltered during the debate.
"Democrats just committed collective suicide," said a party strategist who has worked on presidential campaigns. "Biden sounds hoarse, looks tired and is babbling. He is reaffirming everything voters already perceive. President Biden can’t win. This debate is a nail in the political coffin."
"It's hard to argue that we shouldn’t nominate someone else," a Democratic consultant who works on down-ballot races said.
"He's a good man; he loves his country; he’s doing the best that he can," said Van Jones, a one-time adviser to former President Barack Obama and a strong supporter of Biden. "But he had a chance tonight to restore confidence of the country and of the base, and he failed to do that. And I think there are a lot of people who are going to want to see him take a different course now."
"No one expected this nosedive," one senior Democratic adviser said. Biden "was bad on message, bad on substance, bad on counter-punching, bad on presentation, bad on non-verbals. There was no bright spot in this debate for him."
Major Democratic donors have also voiced their concerns. One donor even labeled Biden's debate performance as "the worst in history" and suggested he withdraw from the race.
