Russia promises to give Iran fighter jets, air defenses if U.S. backs Israeli aggression

If the United States decides to back Israel in waging war on Iran, Russia is promising to send fighter jets and air defenses to Iran.

Since the provocation of Iran by Israel with the recent bombing of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria, Iran responded with an air assault on Israel. Israel plans to counter-respond a second time against Iran in defiance of warnings that it needs to back off or else face a much worse attack by Iran.

With warmonger Benjamin Netanyahu at the helm, Israel is on the precipice of unleashing a full-scale regional war in the Middle East that many say it cannot win. And especially now that Russia is promising to back Iran, Israel would seal its own fate by provoking the situation any further.

"It's no longer the patron-client dynamic, where Russia holds all the leverage," commented Hanna Notte, director of the Eurasia Nonproliferation Program at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies.

"The Iranians are accruing benefits from this change. The nature of their relationship has gone beyond just getting things. There's knowledge transfer, there's intangible gains."

Iran plus Russia, a mighty force

The relationship between Russia and Iran took a major step forward in 2022 when Iran agreed to help Russia with its special military operation in Ukraine. An agreement forged between the two nations allowed Iran to send thousands of battlefield drones and missiles to Russia for use in Ukraine.

Russia is now ready to reciprocate this by supplying Iran with the munitions and defense tools it needs to ward off Israeli aggression in the coming days, which at this point seems to be a certainty.

Intelligence officials and weapons experts say that when Russia supplies Iran with fighter jets and air defense technologies, it will make Iran a much more powerful force in the Middle East – one that Israel will not want to mess with if it wants to avoid finding itself a primary target in World War III.

Iran demonstrated its strength even without Russia's help in its counterattack on Israel last weekend. That strength will only increase once Russia joins Iran's team in the coming days.

It is being reported that Iran is especially interested in obtaining Russia's S-400 anti-aircraft launchers, which military analysts say are able to detect and destroy stealth fighter jets operated by both Israel and the U.S.

Back in March of 2023, a Russian arms dealer invited a delegation of Iranians to tour one of its weapons factories, called NPP Start. That factory was under U.S. sanctions for supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

It was later determined following a hack that the meeting was intended as an exhibition of the "scientific and technical potential and production capabilities" of what Russia has to offer in terms of modern warfare weaponry.

That meeting, coupled with Russia's latest indication of plans to back Iran should the U.S. get involved in supporting another Israeli strike on Iran, demonstrate that Russia and Iran are becoming a major force to be reckoned with in the Middle East.

Currently, Iran's air force is considered to be outdated. It is comprised mostly of rebuilt U.S. and Soviet jets from before 1979. However, Russia is reportedly "advancing" a deal with Iran to supply the Middle Eastern nation with Su-35 fighter jets.

While there is not yet any formidable evidence to suggest that Iran has actually received any of these Russian procurements, all indications point to an impending deal that will fortify Iran's resistance against further Israeli provocation.
