According to InfoWars, the fiasco is beginning to unfold in the British media about how "tens of millions of pounds" are being given to what Patrick Christys of GB News describes as "pointless woke academic research." The American independent news outlet gave several examples of these absurd research papers.
One academic research paper on comics and race in Latin America reportedly received more than £750,000 (€880,000). Another paper, this time focusing on "the Europe that gay porn built," received £841,830 ($1.07 million). Both grants were taken from British taxpayer money.
But the two papers were just the tip of the iceberg, Christys noted. Arts Council England (ACE), which is affiliated with the British Department for Culture, Media and Sport, receives £445 million ($563 million) in public funds annually. That money given to ACE bankrolls endeavors such as Femmes of Color, a show described as "'a riot of positivity and inclusivity' where 'White audience members are invited to check their privilege at the door.'"
"The government does not want you to know this, but I think you have a right to know," said the GB News journalist. "It brings me no joy at all to reveal to you that your hard-earned money, in the middle of a cost of living crisis, is being used as the dole for people with blue hair. How on earth has a Conservative government that keeps banging on about woke and culture wars allowed this to happen?" (Related: British government official warns businesses to STOP GOING WOKE.)

Journalist Charlotte Gill also outlined some research titles that received huge amounts of money. She had spent weeks conducting research on this absurdity, citing several papers she uncovered:
Gill's decision to share the list of studies did not sit well with leftists, who quickly denounced her for "stirring up more culture war nonsense." Richard Bentall, a psychology professor at the University of Sheffield, even appeared to compare her work to that of the Nazis and Stalinists, who “tried to dictate what sort of science was acceptable.”
"Think about what I'm doing," she responded. "I am copying and pasting studies that the taxpayer has funded – with a little commentary. Then look at the vitriol. It’s not normal. Twitter academics say these studies are 'actually' brilliant. But are also apoplectic that they’ve been shared."
Dr. Joanna Williams, author of the book "How Woke Won," told the Telegraph that the U.K. Research and Innovation (UKRI) "should be using taxpayers' money to fund academic research, not political activism." UKRI invests £8 billion ($10.13 billion) in research endeavors each year, with the consent of Conservative (Tory) Party ministers.
The UKRI itself responded to criticism, insisting that its "funding decisions [were] made via rigorous peer review by relevant independent experts across academia and business." But given the titles it has funded, it only raises further questions regarding the political makeup of peer review groups.
