On Jan. 11, 2023, a paper titled "Rethinking next-generation vaccines for coronaviruses, influenza viruses, and other respiratory viruses" was published in the journal Cell Host & Microbe. Fauci, who retired from public service at the end of 2022, was one of its three authors.
Fauci was still the chief medical advisor to President Joe Biden and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases when he co-authored the paper. But his admission did not dampen official government enthusiasm for COVID-19 vaccine boosters. (Related: Fauci CONFIRMS gain-of-function research conducted on pathogen blamed for COVID-19 pandemic.)
This paper was highlighted by the British lobbying organization the Health Recovery and Advisory Team, which noted that the paper shows Fauci admitting that COVID-19 vaccines could never have worked as claimed. Fauci is regarded as one of the key architects of the United States' COVID-19 policies, including pushing for giving emergency authorization approval for the experimental COVID-19 vaccines.
To garner more political support for the vaccines, Fauci made bold claims about them in order to justify the policies he was advocating for, including that they would prevent infections and limit the transmission of the virus to others.
In the paper, Fauci and the other authors admitted that in the past 60 years, "very little improvement" has been seen in the ability of most modern vaccines to prevent infections.

"The vaccines for [COVID-19 and influenza] have common characteristics: They elicit incomplete and short-lived protection against evolving virus variants that escape population immunity," read the paper, drawing parallels to the vaccines created against the coronavirus and the yearly vaccines pushed out against the flu.
"It is not surprising that none of the predominantly mucosal respiratory viruses [of which influenza and SARS-CoV-2 are examples] have ever been effectively controlled by vaccines," it continued. "The observation raises a question of fundamental importance: If natural mucosal respiratory virus infections do not elicit complete and long-term protective immunity against reinfection, how can we expect vaccines, especially systematically administered non-replicating vaccines, to do so?"
Fauci's admission is apparently not enough to change mainstream opinion regarding the COVID-19 vaccines. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has just updated its health advice to urge older adults to get an additional updated COVID-19 vaccine shot.
The advice, directed at Americans 65 years old and older, was issued with a statement by CDC Director Dr. Mandy Cohen explaining that recent data supposedly shows that most new COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths were among people 65 years and older.
"An additional vaccine dose can provide added protection … for those at highest risk," she claimed. The CDC added the additional dose will be important for increasing the protection of older adults even if these people already received the updated COVID-19 vaccine offered by the CDC and Big Pharma last fall.
