Why is America, as well as the United Kingdom, so invested in the war Israel is currently waging on the Palestinians? International human rights lawyer Dr. Francis Boyle agreed with Brighteon.com founder Mike Adams when he interviewed Boyle, saying it could be something related to the geopolitical energy dynamics. Israel is a proxy of the U.S. and its Western allies in asserting influence and control over the Middle Eastern region in order to secure energy supplies.
"That is definitely a factor. In my opinion, the United States and the European states after the Second World War supported the creation of the state of Israel as a Western colonial Imperial outpost to control and dominate the entire Middle East, including its fantastic energy supplies. And they have done that ever since," the international law professor said.
In line with the risk of escalation of the current conflict, Adams presented the possibility of an Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) energy embargo. "If OPEC bans the export of energy, including liquid natural gas, would that be devastating to Western economies, specifically, Western Europe?" Adams asked Boyle. The legislation expert mentioned Iran already has called for an oil embargo but he thinks "OPEC would not want to do that."
"Most of these Arab leaders are rotten and corrupt, and in the pockets of the United States and the British. But if war breaks out, a general war, we will see bloodshed, violence, genocide and ethnic cleansing from the Mediterranean all the way down to the Arabian Sea. And this is going to cause a massive disruption of oil supplies to Europe and China, for sure," he explained. "So whether OPEC wants it or not, you have to recall the '73 War by OPEC, when Henry Kissinger publicly threatened Arab leaders and said 'If you ever do this again, we will attack you and invade you.' The Carter administration's Defense Department said the same thing."
But in case it happens, the duo agreed that an energy embargo would be more painful especially since one is already placed on Russia in connection with its conflict with Ukraine. Due to this, there have been severe disruptions in the supply of oil and gas. As per Boyle, should another oil embargo be imposed in Israel, the disruption will multiply by 100. He also presented a much worse scenario. "This sequence of events with Russian troops and naval forces in Syria could lead to World War Three. So, it could be far beyond just disruption of oil and gas supplies. That's why Russian President Vladimir Putin raised the issue about his missiles. I don't think Russia wants to get involved but their forces are right there."
A recent worldwide travel caution published by the State Department said: "Due to increased tensions in various locations around the world, the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations or violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests, the Department of State advises U.S. citizens overseas to exercise increased caution." It further instructed all American citizens to stay alert in locations frequented by tourists, enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive information and alerts to make it easier to locate them in an emergency overseas, and follow the State Department on Facebook and Twitter. (Related: State Department issues rare "worldwide caution" advisory for Americans abroad as Middle East tensions grow.)
For Adams, Israel's current actions and publicly announcing their attack plans make it appear that the war is escalating and these actions placed all Americans, Christians, Muslims and Jews in harm's way worldwide. "This would not be happening if it were not for the actions of Israel. So Israel has put a target on all our backs even if we disagree with Israel's policies," the Health Ranger lamented.
Boyle agreed saying that the Israeli government knew this was coming. "Americans all over the world and the Arab Muslim world will be in jeopardy -- our military personnel, bases – we have over 100 bases around the world –diplomats and consular officials," he added. For now, his top advice and only peaceful alternative for Americans is to take it to the streets, mount a nonviolent resistance and demand an immediate ceasefire.
"We ask all those watching to join us in calling for peace, ceasefire and diplomatic solutions rather than just incessant bombing of infrastructure and civilians. That is not going to be the answer, and it will blow back on all of us, if we don't stop this. We are not insulated from this just because it's so far away," Adams said before closing the show.
