Hamas may have used U.S. WEAPONS in deadly attacks
10/16/2023 // Richard Brown // Views

Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist group, may have used American weapons in the brutal attacks on Israeli towns near the Gaza Strip border.

The possibility surfaced as Newsweek reported in June that some of the small arms from the United States seized in Afghanistan had already been identified in the possession of Palestinian groups active in the Gaza Strip.

Adding fuel to the fire are allegations that the Biden administration indirectly funded Hamas' attack on Israel by unfreezing $6 billion in assets held by Iran, which is a major supporter of Hamas.

While the Biden administration refuted these claims, asserting that the $6 billion unfrozen for Iran is still under the control of a Qatari bank, critics are not convinced. They argue that it could still contribute to Iran's financial resources, potentially enabling the government to allocate funds for various purposes, including supporting terrorist organizations like Hamas.

Republican presidential candidate Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) explained in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News that although the $6 billion has not been fully accessed by Iran, having such a substantial credit could lead to recalibrating budget allocations, allowing Iran to leverage these funds for its intended purposes, which may involve financing terrorism against American allies.

Moreover, the Israeli commander interviewed by Newsweek voiced concerns about U.S. and Western-supplied weapons to Ukraine possibly falling into the hands of Hamas. The commander, who requested to remain anonymous due to the topic's sensitivity, emphasized that the diversion of weapons was being monitored.

The Israeli commander pointed out that pro-Russian factions were driven by their close defense ties with Moscow and Tehran to transfer captured U.S.-supplied weapons, while pro-Ukrainian groups were primarily motivated by financial gains.

The primary route for this was via the Black Sea to the Mediterranean, raising significant apprehensions for Israel.

The Israeli commander's concerns revolved around two primary issues.

First, there was a worry that such weapons could enable Iran to study their capabilities and potentially reproduce them. Second, there was genuine concern that some of these capabilities might find their way into the hands of Hezbollah and Hamas. Notably, there were reports of a specific event on August 20 where a Russian Il-76 transport aircraft was alleged to have delivered cargo in Tehran valued at approximately $100 million, including Western weapons such as U.S.-made Javelin missiles and U.K.-made Next Generation Light Anti-armor weapons (NLAWs).

The U.S. Department of State indicated that it was acutely aware of the risks associated with potential illicit diversion and was actively taking measures to mitigate this risk in close cooperation with the Ukrainian government.

Their stance was clear: They were providing weapons to support Ukraine's defense in an ongoing conflict, and they acknowledged the inherent risk that these weapons could be captured if territorial control changed during the conflict, as is common in war.

Israeli ground attack imminent

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians fled from the territory’s north to the south, heeding the Israeli military’s warnings to evacuate before an anticipated ground invasion.

Israeli forces have gathered at the border preparing to expand their aerial attack with "an integrated and coordinated attack from the air, sea and land."

At least 1,300, including 258 soldiers, were killed in Israel and more than 3,300 were injured during the Hamas attack.

In Gaza, over 1,900 people were killed and more than 7,600 were injured. Gaza's largest hospital has turned into a mass shelter, with 35,000 seeking refuge inside.

Since the attack, clean water, fuel and medical supplies have all but run out in Gaza. Electricity has been unavailable for days.
