A conveniently overlooked study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that pretty much across the board, children with mental problems who tried to deal with them by cutting off body parts and taking gender-bender pharmaceuticals ended up needing more anti-psychotic drug prescriptions after the dirty deed was done.
Researchers looked at the Department of Defense (DoD) medical records of 3,754 trans-identified adolescents and 6,603 of their siblings who do not identify as transgender. All of the records came from military youth.
They found that there is no improvement in mental health after going trans – and, in fact, mental health appears to get far worse after a child goes trans because of slicing off body parts, wearing clothes of the opposite sex, and various other predominant accouterments of transgenderism do not provide the healing that the transgender industry claims they do.
"Among 963 [transgender/gender diverse] youth using gender-affirming pharmaceuticals, mental healthcare did not significantly change and psychotropic medications increased following gender-affirming pharmaceutical initiation; older age was associated with decreased care and prescriptions," the study reads.
(Related: The president of the American College of Pediatricians has warned that trans "affirming care" is a form of medical quackery that has no basis in sound science.)
Despite getting everything they claimed they ever wanted, including new "gender pronouns," perhaps a larger following on TikTok, and plenty of media attention, trans-identifying youth who complete their transition are still not happy – and their prescription records show it.
Compared to their non-trans siblings, trans-identifying youth are more likely to suffer a mental health diagnosis; are more likely to need mental health care services; and are more likely to be prescribed psychotropic medications.
"The most pronounced increases in mental healthcare were for adjustment, anxiety, mood, personality, psychotic disorders, and suicidal ideation / attempted suicide," the study further explains.
"The most pronounced increased in psychotropic medication were in SNRIs, sleep medications, anti-psychotics and lithium."
Amazingly, and perhaps to save face among the transgender lobby, Dr. David Klein of the David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base, one of the study's co-authors, claims that he still believes pre-existing mental health issues can just "melt away" after a child gets a sex change.
Like other transgender proponents, Klein argues that the reason these trans-identifying children have so many mental health problems is because they feel like they are trapped in the wrong body. And the only way to solve it is for these children to undergo expensive, permanent, and ghastly surgical procedures that generate lots of revenue for transgender surgeons and others in the for-profit trans industry.
Klein is the same transgender proponent who co-authored another paper insisting that children as young as seven are fully capable of consenting to a sex change. Klein warns against taking a "watchful waiting" approach, instead arguing that parents need to sign their babies up for sex changes as soon as possible.
"Some well-intentioned military-affiliated clinicians may not be aware that a 'watchful waiting' approach has a different risk profile than a gender-affirmative approach (which allows for gender identity exploration), and that 'conversion therapy' is unethical, harmful, and generally illegal," Klein says.
"Patients may face 'gatekeeping' and major delays in care, including protracted and pathologizing psychiatric evaluations that question patient motives."
