The corruption permeating the federal government was already epic, but it seems as though the Biden regime has elevated it to another level.
According to a recent report, the official who was earlier unidentified but accused by an IRS whistleblower of deceiving Congress regarding the Justice Department's inquiry into Hunter Biden is none other than Attorney General Merrick Garland, Breitbart News noted this week.
The outlet noted further: "Garland refused to name a special counsel in Hunter’s tax investigation to provide a degree of separation between President Joe Biden and his Justice Department."
On multiple occasions, Garland has testified before Congress that U.S. Attorney David Weiss has complete power to refer Hunter Biden for criminal charges without seeking approval from the Justice Department. However, Garland emphasized that he would have to personally "authorize" any charges brought forward.
“There will not be interference of any political or improper kind” in the investigation of Hunter led by Weiss, Garland claimed in April 2022 during testimony.
But that's not been the case, apparently. "The IRS agent’s attorney explained that his client can 'contradict sworn testimony to Congress by a senior political appointee' — whom the New York Post identified as Garland," Breitbart News reported.
Since 2019, there has been an ongoing investigation by Weiss, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump, into possible tax and gun-related offenses committed by Hunter Biden. Despite this investigation, no charges have been filed as of yet.
“There’s enough to indict Hunter Biden now, there was enough to indict Hunter Biden three or four years ago with what’s on the laptop,” House Oversight Committee chair James Comer (R-Ky.) claimed on Lou Dobbs’ podcast. “So, for whatever reason, this U.S. attorney hasn’t produced very many results.”
Meanwhile, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) has told Breitbart News he believes Garland and Biden are both culpable for the alleged abuses.
“Under President Biden and Attorney General Garland, America is not equally applying justice and the rule of law. They are both equally culpable and responsible for abuse alleged by the IRS whistleblower,” he said.
“It sounds like the whistleblower wants to present his information on a nonpartisan fashion. I have no doubt House committees will cooperate and be eager to hear his testimony,” he added.
“I hope Senator [Ron] Wyden [D-Ore.] and the Senate Finance Committee will be equally committed to hearing the truth,” he added regarding the Democrat-controlled Senate.
“The allegations are just one more example that under President Biden we absolutely have a two-tiered system of Justice. One that treats the well-connected (like his son) with kid gloves, the other that aggressively pursues his political opponents,” Johnson noted further. “This is not how a nation governed by the rule of law operates.”
Comer told the news outlet he has wondered why the Justice Department has yet to charge Hunter Biden with tax violations, especially since the grand jury hearing evidence in the case was convened in 2019.
“It’s deeply concerning that the Biden Administration may be obstructing justice by blocking efforts to charge Hunter Biden for tax violations,” Comer said.
“We’ve been wondering all along where the heck the DOJ and the IRS have been,” he continued. “Now it appears the Biden Administration may have been working overtime to prevent the Bidens from facing any consequences.”
“The House Oversight Committee will work to hold accountable anyone in the Biden Administration who may be covering up this criminal activity,” he said.
The attorney representing the IRS whistleblower specifically claims that two political appointees in the Biden administration who serve in the Justice Department have refused to pursue an indictment against Hunter Biden for tax violations, despite the support of investigators and the desire of prosecutors in the DOJ tax division.
"The extent of the interference allegedly includes certain DOJ employees placing restrictions on the investigation, such as on questions, witnesses, and tactics investigators could use to pursue President Joe Biden," Breitbart News noted.
