"We are talking about Afghanistan and the debacle that our faux president created, or was advised to create. And so, we witnessed the decimation of the underground church in Afghanistan," the pastor of Calvary Church in Lima, Ohio said on the July 3 episode of "Transforming Word Bible Hour" on Brighteon.TV.
According to Spaulding, U.S. presidents rarely make a decision in isolation – most especially on matters such as ending America's military ground presence in Kabul. Such decisions are traditionally made after conferring with a huge group of people, he added.
"Normally, the ones who pull the strings are the ones who control things in the background, and they don't hold elective office. You know all this," he remarked. (Related: Biden knew all along the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan was imminent.)
Reports from two ministries active in Afghanistan attested to Spaulding's remarks.
A report by Frontier Alliance International, which partnered with one underground Christian church in Afghanistan, outlined the repercussions of the sudden retreat of U.S. troops. It pointed out that with the extremist Taliban taking over the country once more, decades of work resulted in nothing.
"What we are witnessing right now is the decimation of the country and people of Afghanistan. We are watching twenty years of work and the strengthening of a nation being destroyed in a single day," said the report.
It mentioned that the Taliban has a "hit list" of "known Christians they are targeting to pursue and kill." Members of the extremist Islamic group had also been "going door to door taking women and children." The situation had reached the point where "husbands and fathers have given their wives and daughters guns and told them that when the Taliban comes, they can choose to kill them or kill themselves," the report added.
Another report from Open Doors International, a ministry supported by Spaulding, remarked that "it is impossible to live openly as a Christian in Afghanistan."
"Leaving Islam is considered shameful, and Christian converts face dire consequences if their new faith is discovered. They either have to flee the country or they will be killed. Since leaving Islam is considered a sign of insanity, a Christian who has converted from Islam may be forcibly sectioned in a psychiatric hospital," the report stated.
With these two attestations, Spaulding commented that the landlocked country is next to North Korea when it comes to systematically persecuting, torturing and murdering Christians.
"Those atrocities committed by Islamist jihadists caused Afghanistan to rise all the way up the list to be number two, as the worst nation for Christian persecution," he said. "But the buck still stops with Biden."
True enough, a report released by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee found that as many as 9,000 Americans were left behind in Afghanistan. It contradicted the claim of Secretary of State Antony Blinken that only between 100 and 150 Americans are still in the Islamic emirate.
The report signed by committee ranking member Sen. Jim Risch (R-ID) revealed that officials from the Department of State were of the belief that between 10,000 and 15,000 Americans were in Afghanistan as late as Aug. 17. Only 6,000 Americans were able to escape the country in the next two weeks, ahead of the Taliban takeover.
Aside from this, the report stated that the Biden administration did not hold a senior-level interagency meeting to discuss an evacuation, or formally task the State Department to contact at-risk populations, including Americans until August 14 – just hours before the fall of Kabul.
Risch shared the report on social media, commenting that "while there's disagreement over the policy to leave Afghanistan, Americans share outrage over how the administration withdrew, and what that failure has done to America's reputation."
