And while no doubt that is true to some extent -- the real extent we don't know -- the narrative that the 'glorious Ukrainians' are beating the Russians back with well-supplied, well-disciplined and well-led military formations is also false.
A series of videos of Ukrainian troops laying out the details is no doubt as embarrassing to President Volodymyr Zeleneskyy as they are to the U.S. deep state which has propagandized Americans with the help of virtually every media outlet, left and right, about how righteous the Ukrainian cause has become.
Whether or not you agree with Russia, with Ukraine, or haven't taken a side in this conflict (that has nothing to do with America) these videos are instructive in that they destroy several myths about the alleged invincibility of the Ukrainian formations.
"The meme that Ukraine is crushing the Russian invasion is flipping and a slew of videos of angry Ukrainian soldiers have popped up on Ukrainian social media over the past week," writes Larry Johnson at The Gateway Pundit.
"Apart from the despicable AZOV battalion, which surrendered 2500 fighters at Mariupol, the Ukrainian soldiers called into action and sent to the Donbas to fight the Russians are angry at their chain of command for not properly supplying them with the weapons and equipment they need to fight," he continued.
"This is not your normal troop bitching about conditions. All soldiers in all wars throughout history have passed the time complaining about lousy food, terrible weather, inept commanders and stupid decisions," he writes.
"This is something different and explains one reason for Russia’s progress in the Donbass, as well as growing rumors of a coup to oust Zelenskyy," Johnson continued.
"These soldiers still believe in fighting for Ukraine but are not keen on committing suicide and following crazed orders. Here are several videos allegedly of soldiers from eleven units presenting a formal demand to President Zelensky and the Ukrainian General in Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces."
The units listed in the videos are as follows:
Most of the videos feature troops speaking in their Ukrainian dialect. But others have subtitles and have been translated. They cannot be downloaded and shown here, but readers can watch them online.
"First of all, we want to be heard by the president of Ukraine" and the country's military commander-in-chief says a soldier in a video that has subtitles. "We are a platoon of the 115th Brigade of the 3rd Battalion, which is now based in Severodonetsk. We appeal to you, Mr. Zelenskyy and Mr. Zaluzhny, on behalf of the entire Ukrainian people. We refuse to carry out a combat mission due to the fact that we do not have proper protection behind us and proper leadership.
"We have been waiting for reinforcements since [the] second week" of the war, the soldier continued. "We are sent simply to certain death. There is no combat leadership, not a single combat commander. No technology, no respect for people, absolutely nothing.
"We do not give up the defense of our state, however, we want to have proper rear and proper military command," the soldier continued. "We are not alone and we are many."
Soldiers in similarly translated videos have said the same thing: They are poorly supplied, poorly led and sent to be slaughtered without proper technology and reinforcements.
The war in Ukraine is tragic but it's not going the way that our deep state liars would have us believe.
"Zelensky has lost the support of the troops. I think it is only a matter of time before commanders start to follow," Johnson concluded.
