Starting in 2030, state police must ensure that all vehicles sold, purchased or registered within the state are electric vehicles. The $16.9 billion in taxpayer funds will additionally be used to setup thousands of new charging stations for electronic vehicles (EV) and create a new system of hybrid-electric ferries. The funds will be predominantly sent to China and Russia to acquire large amounts of lithium carbonate, a key ingredient in the manufacture of EV batteries.
Section 415 (1) of the spending package states: “A target is established for the state that all publicly owned and privately owned passenger and light-duty vehicles of model year 2030 or later that are sold, purchased or registered in Washington state be electric vehicles.
Section 415 (2) refers to the development of an inter-agency electric vehicle coordinating council which will be tasked with completing “a scoping plan for achieving the 2030 target.” This is not how commerce works in a free society. Regardless, Governor Inslee said the new law will “create more efficient transportation options,” – as if people have a choice.
“Transportation is our state’s largest source of greenhouse gas emissions,” Inslee virtue signaled. “There is no way to talk about climate change without talking about transportation.” Inslee added, “This package will move us away from the transportation system our grandparents imagined and towards the transportation system our grandchildren dream of.”
This so-called dream will cost an average of $56,437 per electronic vehicle. The cost of electronic vehicles is set to increase by 15 percent in 2022, because prices of lithium carbonate have quintupled in the past eight months. Acquiring a cheap, used vehicle will essentially be impossible in the state of Washington, forcing a large portion of the population to take on large debts for electronic vehicle loans. The state will most likely go through a new "cash for clunkers" program that pays to dispose of good, working gasoline-powered vehicles.
Under this new dream, the population will be at the mercy of the EV charging system itself. A Tier 3 charger takes roughly 30-45 minutes to charge a battery back up to 80 percent full. The population will be made more vulnerable to a fragile power grid, and lose basic driving autonomy previously afforded by gasoline engines. Washington residents must also deal with a cold climate, and batteries often fail in cold conditions. (Related: A future dominated by electric vehicles is a slow, inefficient future that tortures the planet and the people.)
If Democrats can force everyone to hook up to a grid controlled by a corrupt communist government, they could impose a variety of conditions on people just to access this grid. "We're in this together" and "stay safe" could mean any number of bodily preconditions just to have access to an EV and the grid. Anyone who disagrees with any of the Democrat's decrees at the time could easily be shut off and shut out of public life. Democrat lock downs and mandates would be much easier to enforce under this electronic grid.
In 2020, Democrats threatened to turn off home electricity for those who didn’t abide by “public health measures.” In 2021, Democrats threatened to exclude anyone who didn’t shoot up with covid-19 vaccines. Laws that threaten personal freedoms and vanquish the free market are a grave threat to the individual and to the republic of the United States of America.
