Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer made this revelation during the Jan. 26 edition of "Jesse Watters Primetime" on Fox News. According to the author of "Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win," the house speaker's hard anti-CCP stance gradually softened after her husband Paul Pelosi Sr. and son Paul Jr. "started seeking deals in Beijing."
"Nancy Pelosi used to be pretty anti-CCP early in her career, and then her husband and son started seeking deals in Beijing," Schweizer told Watters in the latter's program.
"Last time China held the [Summer] Olympics in 2008, Nancy Pelosi was in favor of a boycott. And then, lo and behold, her husband was a partner in a couple of limousine companies that got major contracts in China to ferry VIPs around the Olympics. [She] suddenly went from boycotting the Olympics – to saying that she was opposed to a boycott for the Olympics."
According to Schweizer, Paul Pelosi Sr. was involved in two limousine firms – Global Ambassador Concierge (GAC) and City Car Services (CCS). His Georgetown University classmate Vincent Wolfington was responsible for setting up GAC, while Wolfington's son ran CCS. The House speaker's husband had stakes in both limousine companies.
The 2008 Olympics served as a potentially huge market for GAC, which led to the house speaker eventually singing a different tune. "The year after her husband bought shares in GAC, [Nancy] reversed course and opposed a boycott of Beijing's hosting of the Games," said Schweizer.
The house speaker's son Paul Pelosi Jr. also had business interests in China. The Breitbart News senior contributor said the younger Pelosi "embarked on a series of ventures that involved Chinese investors and clients." These included a chairmanship for Global Tech Industries Group – formerly known as Tree Top Industries – and a stint at the board of directors for International Media Acquisition Corp. Schweizer argued that the business interests of Paul Sr. and Paul Jr. in China "clearly conflicted with [Nancy] Pelosi's duty as a member of, and leader in, Congress." He continued that the Pelosis have had "millions of dollars on the line when it comes to China. The [House] speaker seems to have altered her positions on China's communist regime from a policy perspective as these investments grew and took shape."
During his appearance on Watters' show, Schewizer pointed out how Pelosi used her position as House speaker to block any attempts to discuss the origins of SARS-COV-2 in Congress. He asked: "She has refused to allow a single congressional hearing to even discuss the origins of the COVID-19 virus. Why on Earth would the House speaker take that position?"
Schweizer's book "Red-Handed" also mentions this observation. "Beginning in 2020 and extending for more than a year, Pelosi blocked efforts by Congress to investigate the origins of the COVID-19 virus. With much of the evidence pointing to the possibility of a lab leak of the virus in Wuhan, Pelosi ordered the Democrats in Congress not to cooperate with any efforts to investigate the matter."
Republican politicians attested to Pelosi's interception by denouncing what they called a "Soviet-style coverup" of the issue.
"Pelosi won't do it. When we're in the majority, we will do it and we will hold China accountable. They are covering for China right now. It's a Soviet-style coverup [and] we're going to keep calling them out on it," said House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA).
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) agreed with Scalise, saying: "The first thing we should do is declassify the intelligence. That would show us it came from Wuhan. Think about who had to pay for this. People have lost their lives because China lied to the world."
