According to Maher, "red" states like Florida and Texas have done a much better job dealing with the scourge than "blue" states like California and New York, both of which still have statewide mask mandates and other draconian measures in place.
Maher blames the media for overreacting to everything and scaring the public, mostly in "blue" states." Meanwhile, "red" states are moving closer to "normal," even if some of their cities and counties are still requiring that people wear masks.
"When researchers at Dartmouth built a database recently monitoring the COVID coverage of the major news outlets across the world, and found that, while other countries mix the good news in with the bad, the U.S. national media reported almost 90 percent bad news," Maher stated, condemning the American media.
"Even as things were getting better, the reporting remained negative."
Maher also took aim at the right-leaning media for reporting misinformation as well, but focused much of his attention on the left-leaning media, which would seem to want the plandemic to continue forever.
Citing a recent Gallup poll, Maher noted that Democrats are far and away the most ill-informed when it comes to the facts about the Chinese virus. While only one out of five, or 20 percent, of people who test positive for the Wuhan flu end up having to be hospitalized, the average Democrat believes that figure to be over 50 percent.
Another 28 percent of Democrats, it turns out, put the chances of hospitalization at 20-49 percent, which is still wildly off base.
"So, almost 70 percent of Democrats are wildly off on this key question, and also have a greatly exaggerated view of the danger of Covid and the mortality rate among children – all of which explains why today the states with the highest share of schools that are still closed are all blue states," he added.
Even though Maher is still a diehard liberal – he believes that conservatives are ill-informed in their rejection of "climate change," for instance – he had plenty to say in condemnation of liberals for living in fear based on false data and misinformation.
"Shouldn't the liberal media have to answer for, 'How did your audience end up believing such a bunch of crap about Covid?'" he asked during the segment.
Maher also blasted the media and his liberal colleagues for fear-mongering about outdoor transmission of the virus, including at beaches where some leftists have demanded that people wear a mask.
Maher is correct in speculating that being outdoors is better for health than staying cooped up and scared inside the home while living in fear about testing "positive." He also called out the elephant in the room, obesity, for being perhaps the biggest risk factor when it comes to developing complications from the Chinese virus.
"I know we like to think of Florida as only middle school teachers on bath salts having sex with their students in front of an alligator," Maher joked.
"But apparently the governor is also a voracious consumer of the scientific literature, and maybe that's why he protected his most vulnerable population – the elderly – way better than did the governor of New York."
Back in early March, Maher also came out in condemnation of the transgender mutilation of children with surgery and gender-bender drugs.
