How do we know? Because a BLM leader himself has admitted as much.
In an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum on Wednesday, New York City BLM chapter leader threatened to “burn down” the existing “system” if the organization as a whole doesn’t get what it wants.
“You ... have said that violence is sometimes necessary in these situations," host Martha MacCallum told Greater New York Black Lives Matter president Hawk Newsome. "What exactly is it that you hope to achieve through violence?”
“Wow, it's interesting that you would pose that question like that, because this country is built upon violence. What was the American Revolution, what's our diplomacy across the globe?” Newsome said.
Well, true, there was violence during the American Revolution — it was, after all, a war of independence. But American colonists were fighting the tyranny of a king; Leftist BLM activists represent the exact same kind of tyranny in that the movement does not tolerate any dissent and uses violence and intimidation to get its way.
“We go in and we blow up countries and we replace their leaders with leaders who we like. So for any American to accuse us of being violent is extremely hypocritical,” Newsome continued, without elaboration or providing any examples.
MacCallum said she framed her question based on what Newsome had said in other interviews.
“I said if this country doesn't give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it. All right? And I could be speaking ... figuratively. I could be speaking literally. It's a matter of interpretation,” he said — purposely leaving open the possibility that he was talking about using violence to literally destroy the existing American systems of government, which could also be interpreted by some to be seditious.
“Let's observe the history of the 1960s, when black people were rioting," he continued. "We had the highest growth in wealth, in property ownership. Think about the last few weeks since we started protesting. There have been eight cops fired across the country.”
“I don't condone nor do I condemn rioting," Newsome added. "But I'm just telling you what I observed.” (Related: America is now a FAILED STATE… no rule of law, no police, no leadership, no free speech, no functioning markets and no equal protection under the law… YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.)
First off, not everyone agrees with the firings. Officers fired in Minneapolis following the death of George Floyd were let go and summarily charged with crimes under far different circumstances than Garrett Rolfe, the Atlanta cop fired after the death of Rayshard Brooks, a multiple felon who fought Rolfe and his partner resisting arrest and stole one of their tasers. He was shot and killed by Rolfe as he turned and appeared prepared to fire it while he fled the officers on foot.
Later in the interview, Newsome said his organization ought to be “applauded” for upholding the Second Amendment while praised for “saving lives.”
“Nobody's talking about ambushing police officers. We're talking about protecting lives," he said. "There's nothing more American than that. We talk about uplifting and upholding the Second Amendment but it seems to be the hypocrisy of America that when black people start talking about arming themselves and defending themselves, [that] talk is 'violent'. But when white people grab assault rifles and go to our nation's, their state capitals, it's all good.”
No one has suggested that blacks should not be allowed to exercise their Second Amendment rights. But when the Second Amendment is discussed in a revolutionary sense, that is distinctly anti-constitutional.
“I just want black liberation and black sovereignty, by any means necessary,” Newsome said, according to Fox News — which validates why some people are suspicious of BLM’s motives.
