It’s ok to poop in the street, but you shouldn’t smoke: San Francisco moves forward with e-cig ban thanks to a “decisive vote” by nanny-state politicians
02/05/2020 // Lance D Johanson // Views

The streets of San Francisco are littered with human feces and drug paraphernalia. This is no exaggeration. The good folk who grew up in conservative communities have no idea what it’s like to live in the filth and destitution of a high-tax, liberal nanny state that drives away economic opportunity, speeds up inflation, and encourages homelessness and drug addiction.

San Francisco is so filthy, the city had to spend $70 million in 2019 just to clean up the feces and drug paraphernalia on the city streets, sidewalks and parks. In the first three months of 2019, the city’s 311 call center received 5,874 calls for waste on the streets. However, even though San Fran can’t keep the feces and needles from piling up on the streets, they are moving forward with a ban on electronic cigarettes. The nanny-state politicians know what’s best for your body, even though the city streets have become a nasty vector for infectious disease to spread.

Smoking is bad, but defecating in the streets, sharing needles and spreading disease is widely accepted

Since 2014, e-cigarettes have become the most commonly used tobacco product among young people and the trend will likely continue. The e-cig ban won’t stop people from destroying their bodies and their communities. The e-cig ban is just a ploy for control. The e-cig ban will ultimately generate more revenue for the nanny state in the form of fines. Nanny state politician Michael Bloomberg spent upward of $6.6 million to convince the people of San Francisco that they need the government to tell them what they can and cannot put in their bodies.

This issue begins in the home. The father and the mother of the nuclear family unit are being replaced by a government nanny state that thinks smoking is bad but permits drug paraphernalia and poop in the city streets. The influential educators and mentors in a young person's life are being replaced with government overlords who guarantee that everyone will be "kept safe" from smoking, while the streets harbor drug addiction and disease.

Easily swayed, slightly more than 80 percent of the voters opposed Proposition C -- a ballot measure that would have effectively overturned the e-cig ban. The law, passed in June 2019, will go into effect in 2020, banning the sale of e-cigarettes in the city.

The majority of voters in San Francisco were easily swayed to believe that the individual has no discipline or self control, that the family is weak, that the state can make them all safe by banning any product that involves risk. The more the people succumb to delusions of government safety, the more they are stripped of their universal freedoms, the more they are watched over, governed and told what to do in every aspect of their lives.

The e-cig ban won’t stop anyone from going outside San Francisco to get their crutch. The paraphernalia will get smuggled in. The e-cig ban is nothing more than a virtue signaling, nanny state power grab. The city will fail to protect citizens from the risks of e-cigarettes, as they have failed to protect the population from hard drugs, homelessness, and the widespread mental illness that has engulfed the city.
