Cattle farts, SUVs, and modern power plants are doing to the planet what meteors, massive volcanoes, and the Ice Age couldn’t do, we are told: Destroy Earth and kill billions of people.
The latest example comes from none other than Australia, where a series of wildfires has ravaged millions of acres. Only, the fires were not caused by modern technology; they were caused by modern humans.
As MIT claimed in a January 2 post:
Summer wildfires are common in Australia, but climate change is making them worse. Spring rainfall has declined in recent decades, even as temperatures rise, extreme heat events become more common, and droughts turn more severe, according to a 2018 report by Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology.
Greg Norman, a Hall of Fame golfer from Australia and not a climate scientist, also blamed the fires on the “stupidity of humanity,” though he did not seem to harbor any such feelings for modern life when he was jetting around the globe winning lots of golf tournaments (and a whole lotta money).
“I see it on my ranch in Colorado where the seasons are getting later. It used to snow in the early part of September, now we don't get any snow until the middle of October,” he said, according to TMZ. “We're seeing this change take place and the stupidity of humanity ... Are we to blame to some degree? Yes. We ARE to blame to some degree. Are we to blame 100%? No, but whatever that degree is, let's fix the problem.”
You see how this works with the Left? The climate is changing so “let’s fix it.” Fix what? How do we…’fix’ the climate?
Left unsaid is this: We have to give up our modern way of life and/or pay lots of money to some global entity to ‘fix the problem,’ though it never really gets ‘fixed’ because…you can’t ‘fix’ climate.
And anyway, as Breitbart News reports, the fires in Australia weren’t started by hot weather or power plants:
Police in five Australian states have begun investigations into alleged arsonists responsible for helping fuel the deadly bushfires that have wracked the country this summer.
Police had captured as many as 24 alleged “firebugs” by this week; they stand accused of deliberately lighting brushfires that have left at least 18 people dead in New South Wales, the country’s most heavily populated state.
In December, police in Queensland launched a criminal investigation of their own, identifying some 100 people who may have been involved in setting the fires. In all, police said that 103 fires that have ravaged parts of the state were started by humans.
In one case, a 16-year-old boy was charged with starting a fire that destroyed 14 homes. In addition, two more teens, ages 14 and 15, were charged with endangering property by fire after allegedly starting a blaze that razed two homes and forced hundreds of people to flee.
For some reason, deliberately starting fires in Australia…is a thing.
“The link between arsonists and the deadly fires that devastate Australia every summer is well known and well documented, with the rate of deliberately lit fires escalating rapidly during the school holiday period,” Breitbart News reported.
But what these fires aren’t are part of human-caused “climate change,” despite all of the breathless accusations by the Left to the contrary.
Few people doubt that our planet’s climate may be evolving into different patterns in some places. It’s the cause of those changing patterns that is in dispute.
And so far, there is no evidence to indicate that ‘human activity’ is responsible.
