As he filled in for Rush Limbaugh on Monday, Pennsylvania-based talk show host Ken Matthews wrapped up the first broadcast hour pondering that, rhetorically asking his audience what it might take for Democrats to finally get serious about border security.
Given a piece of legislation House Democrats passed last week, the answer should be apparent to all Americans: Nothing.
Not the murder of American citizens by illegal aliens. Not human trafficking and rape. Not the smuggling of dangerous, deadly drugs that are killing more Americans per year than guns. Not testimony by one immigration and Homeland Security official after another about the worsening humanitarian crisis or the fact that Homeland Security estimates 1 million migrants will cross illegally into the U.S. this year.
No, Democrats aren’t interested in border security because they just voted last week to allow people in our country illegally to vote in our elections.
During a news conference last week in Austin with fellow Democrat Rep. Lloyd Doggett of Texas, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), used carefully chosen language in pushing H.R. 1, the misnamed “For the People Act,” the party’s legislative priority for the year which contains “historic expansions of voter registration and access, as well as a major rewrite of campaign finance laws,” the Washington Times reported.
The House voted on Friday “to defend localities that allow illegal immigrants to vote in their elections, turning back a GOP attempt to discourage the practice,” the paper said. That's a reversal from six months ago when the House, which Republicans controlled at the time, voted to discourage illegal immigrant voting.
The bill would have no practical effect on illegal alien voting since they are currently forbidden from doing so under federal law. But Democrat-run states use the concept of nullification to ignore federal immigration and recreational pot laws; what’s to stop those jurisdictions from ignoring federal law prohibiting illegals from voting in federal elections? During the Austin press conference, Pelosi essentially admits that is her party’s end goal. As reported by CNS News, Pelosi said, incredibly, that immigrants “make America more American,” and as such we shouldn’t be “suppressing the vote of our newcomers to America.”
“So, when we talk about newcomers, we have to recognize the constant reinvigoration of America that they are, that we all have been – our families,” said Pelosi. “And that, unless you're blessed to be Native American – which is a blessing in itself that we respect – but that constant reinvigoration of hope, determination, optimism, courage, to make the future better for the next generation, those are American traits.
“And these newcomers make America more American. And we want them, when they come here, to be fully part of our system. And that means not suppressing the vote of our newcomers to America,” she added.
In furtherance of the Democrats’ goal to fix all elections in the future, freshman Democrat Rep. Ayanna Pressley introduced an amendment to the bill that would lower the voting age around the country from 18 to 16 (meaning Democrats think teens can be trusted to vote ‘the right way’ but cannot be trusted to buy a gun until they’re 21).
“It sounds like I’m making it up. What kind of government would cancel the vote of its own citizens, and replace it with noncitizens?” raged former Navy SEAL hero and freshman Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas).
The answer is: The kind of government Democrats seek to impose on the rest of us.
The Donkey Party is turning the issue of illegal immigration into one that is just as divisive as slavery was in the mid-1800s. And we know what happened then.
