He's widely recognized as one of the greatest talents to ever grace the genre of Christian music. But Dove Award-winning musician Steve Green is anything but full of pride, demonstrating time and time again that there really are true believers out there who not only talk the talk, but also walk the walk.

During a recent interview with Leah Tillock of ATN World News, available for viewing at Brighteon.com, Green offered up a few goldmine gems about his life, both before and after coming to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

When asked what inspired him to become a musician in the first place, Green's immediate answer was God's grace. He went on to tell about his "missionary kid" upbringing, his moving to the United States as a "prodigal" at the age of 18, and his eventual redemption at the hands of the Most High.

"My story from that moment until now," Green stated, recalling his initial voyage to America, "is that God is the one who has pursued me."

"When I didn't really know that I needed to be rescued, He rescued me and gave me something to do. And I really think it was just to display the fact that He chooses the unlikely, that He wants to receive glory from our lives so that it's not we who shine, but He's the one who shines bright," Green added.

All the credit and glory belongs to God, says Steve Green

Green humbly added that he's only really good at one thing in life, music, which is why he chose to pursue it with all of his heart. Once again giving credit to God, Green says that he never would have become the man he is today were it not for the loving hand of the Creator of the universe, who both guided him and provided for him every step of the way.

"The real impetus and motivation behind whatever He's let me do is His strength, His power, His calling, His enabling, His help, His encouragement, His holding, so that at the end, there's only one hero to my story and it certainly isn't me, it's Him," Green explained.

Watch below a video of Steve Green performing one of his most well-known hits, "People Need the Lord," at a Billy Graham crusade that took place in Denver, Colorado, back in July of 1987:

God rained out Steve Green's first and only concert in his hometown to reconcile warring indigenous groups

Recalling one particularly impactful concert that he held in his Argentinian hometown, which turned out to be a rain-drenched disaster – or so he thought – Green told an inspiring story about how God used what didn't make sense at the time to fulfill His will.

"I tried to keep singing and I prayed and asked the Lord to stop the rain, and instead it increased," Green explained.

"It got so bad that it began to flood the venue, and I had to stop singing and leave. And I had only done maybe 30 minutes of music, I hadn't even said what I wanted to say, what I felt like God had given me to say coming back to my little hometown. I didn't ever finish the concert, I walked out, they took me in a car to the hotel. The rest of the people had to stay there for a couple hours while it just poured. And the next morning I left, and never have been back."

The experience left Green distraught. But one day not long after he received a letter from someone who attended the concert explaining that the rainstorm was exactly what needed to happen to full God's will in mending civil strife between opposing indigenous groups in Argentina.

"As you know, the gentleman said, your father worked with various indigenous groups. Well, those indigenous groups don't get along, there's a lot of racial tension between them, and yet they all came to your concert because of you, and because of your dad and what he did here," Green said about the letter's contents.

"They never would have gotten together, but they came together that night. And because of the storm, they couldn't leave. And so, as soon as you brought them there, that was all your job was, and God removed you. And they stayed there for hours and there were conversations that happened, and there were reconciliations that took place that wouldn't have happened any other way. So your purpose was really just to come and get them together."

Green's response to this revelation was yet more thankfulness to God, who's "economy," Green says, is nothing like our national economy.

"God can use bits and pieces of us," Green declared. "He can use parts of our lives that we don't think are that important, He can have me travel all the way someplace and never sing, and it still be exactly what He intends. I serve at the wish of my King, and whatever He wants to do with my life is His design."
