According to a posting to the Facebook account for the Red Guards Austin, they’d like to see the formation of “paramilitary organizations,” one of which specializes in fist fighting and the use of blunt weapons like flagpoles or axe handles. A second level would involve those who have undergone military training and would operate as the group’s “soldiers.”
The posting goes on to call for members to confront their enemies physically and ensure they are “bombarded from all sides.”
The end of the post makes it clear that they are quite committed to their cause, and their words are frightening:
“On the basis of our principled united front work, fascists and their collaborators can be drowned out, run out, routed, beaten bloody, and even annihilated. These are our principles and we aim to hold them to the very finish.”
The Red Guards Austin say they are a Marxist–Leninist–Maoist violent Antifa group. They’re based in Austin, but they work together with Red Guards Los Angeles, Red Guards Charlotte, Red Guards Pittsburgh, and Red Guards Kansas City. It might be tempting to dismiss their words as the ramblings of a few deranged individuals, but the Austin cell’s group page on Facebook currently has nearly 8,000 followers – and they regularly call for other masked individuals to join their group.
This group claims that the whole country is a battlefield and that the war is “here and now” rather than something that is coming in the future. They want to teach their followers how to use weapons in carrying out “revolutionary violence.” They’ve also said that it is time to "walk away from the comfort zone of the legal left.” On their website, you’ll find photos of masked demonstrators carrying rifles marching through the streets.
It’s interesting to note that Facebook has not taken any steps to remove their account because they call for violence, even though they are incredibly quick to shadow ban and censor conservative accounts for saying things they disagree with that don’t mention any type of violent acts.
Red Guards Austin is not the only radical far left group out there looking to cause trouble. For example, Redneck Revolt is a self-described “above-ground militant formation” that claims to have more than 30 branches throughout the nation. Much like the Red Guards Austin’s opposition to what they call the “ruling class democracy,” Redneck Revolt backs the idea of "militant resistance to capitalism." Their 36-page handbook, which is published on their website, contain sections on topics like guerrilla warfare that reference terrorism, kidnapping, sabotage, and even executions.
This is why it is so essential to be informed and be prepared. How many groups like this are trying to organize violence in your area? Would you know what to do if this angry mob confronted you? Would you be able to get home to your family if they caused havoc in the streets while you were out? If you haven’t given preparedness and survival careful consideration before, it’s time to get your head out of the sand and recognize all the danger that is brewing.
