The cover features a crying two-year-old Honduran girl who appears to be looking up at President Donald Trump, who is looking back down at her dispassionately. The cover comes with the caption: “Welcome to America.”
The story inside is another Left-wing hit piece criticizing the Trump administration’s practice of separating some migrant children from the lawbreaking adult parent as it enforces a “zero-tolerance” policy of prosecuting all illegal crossers.
But there’s a catch regarding the cover photo of the little girl: She was never separated from a parent.
It’s a lie. It’s the fakest of fake news. It’s intentionally misleading. It’s a hoax.

Come to find out, the father of the little girl, Denis Javier Varela Hernandez, 32, told the U.K.’s Daily Mail that his wife Sandra, 32, had taken their daughter, Yanela Denise, on the dangerous journey from their home country on June 3 without first telling him. They were in touch after she left, but he found out both of them had been apprehended as she attempted to enter the U.S. illegally — but never separated.
But the story gets better — or worse, depending on your point of view.
After Time was busted for their fabricated cover, editors refused to apologize, saying that the ‘larger issue’ the cover is meant to address had not changed.
Let that sink in: A media outlet is admitting it fabricated imagery in order to push a phony narrative, but it’s okay because, hey, their intentions are all that matter.
Byron York, chief political correspondent for the Washington Examiner, noted Time’s ‘correction’ in a tweet, calling it “pretty big.”

But then, about an hour later, Time reversed itself and stood by its lying cover.
“The June 12 photograph of the 2-year-old Honduran girl became the most visible symbol of the ongoing immigration debate in America for a reason. Under the policy enforced by the administration, prior to its reversal this week, those who crossed the border illegally were criminally prosecuted, which in turn resulted in the separation of children and parents. Our cover and our reporting capture the stakes of this moment,” said the statement, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
There are so many additional lies and misrepresentations in that statement that they, too, must be addressed. (Related: It’s so OBVIOUS: Democrats are willing to see America overrun and destroyed just so they can win future elections.)
First, let it be known — clearly — that the Bush administration and the Obama administration have used child separation policies at the U.S.-Mexico border. In fact, you could say the Obama administration elevated and perfected the practice.
Second, Trump did not “reverse” his child separation policy or his zero-tolerance policy. His executive order issued Wednesday makes it perfectly clear his administration still intends to enforce all immigration laws and that there will be times when children will be separated from families — such as when the family member is a serial border jumper (like Sandra Hernandez) or someone who has been convicted of a crime in the U.S.
The phrase, “capture the stakes of this moment,” is journalistic gobbledygook for, “We’ve been caught lying but we’re going to continue to do it because we think we have the moral high ground, good journalism be damned.”
And finally, there is no “debate” taking place. Democrats want open borders, period, and are not going to move from that position, so anything offered them less than that will not be entertained, discussed, or ‘debated.’
Trump was elected, in large part, to enforce all immigration laws. He’ll continue to do that. But the problems he’s having in doing so should illustrate to all Americans just how badly our immigration systems needs fixing.
