Sorry if that’s too harsh for you but it’s the truth. Liberalism has killed more Americans than the NRA ever has, and yet — thanks to the American Pravda media — Democrats are allowed to deflect blame over their deadly policies and slither away into the swamp where they are permitted to plot their next outrage.
If you’ve read much at all about Nikolas Cruz, the admitted Parkland, Fla., mass murderer who took the lives of 14 students and three Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School employees on Valentine’s Day, you know he had a ‘troubled’ mental history and well-established legal history of interaction with local police.
But you also know that, for some strange reason, “despite committing a string of arrestable offenses on campus,” according to Paul Sperry of RealClearInvestigations, he was never actually arrested.
Nor was he ever booked or incarcerated for anything despite 45 contacts between Cruz, his family, and police.
Have you ever wondered why?
As Sperry notes, it’s because of an Obama-era social justice program called “PROMISE.” (Related: Liberalism kills again, this time in California.)
Documents reviewed by RealClearInvestigations and interviews show that his school district in Florida’s Broward County was in the vanguard of a strategy, adopted by more than 50 other major school districts nationwide, allowing thousands of troubled, often violent, students to commit crimes without legal consequence. The aim was to slow the "school-to-prison pipeline."
“He had a clean record, so alarm bells didn’t go off when they looked him up in the system,” veteran FBI agent Michael Biasello told RCI. “He probably wouldn’t have been able to buy the murder weapon if the school had referred him to law enforcement.”
But wait. Can this be true?
After all, district parents and residents were assured earlier by school Superintendent Robert W. Runcie that no, Cruz had not been placed in that program.
That was a lie.
As reported by WLRN:
Broward school district officials admitted Sunday that the confessed Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School gunman was assigned to a controversial disciplinary program, after the superintendent repeatedly claimed Nikolas Cruz had “no connection” to the alternative punishment designed to limit on-campus arrests.
Two sources with knowledge of Cruz’s discipline records told WLRN he was referred to the so-called PROMISE Program for a three-day stint after committing vandalism at Westglades Middle School in 2013.
Worse than lying about Cruz’s participation in the program, Runcie went on to praise it as well.
“Nikolas Cruz, the shooter that was involved in this horrific accident at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, had no connection to the PROMISE program,” he said. “I’m not going to allow a shift from what our focus needs to be to a fictitious narrative that’s being made up about a successful program that we have in Broward County that has no connection to the shooter or the situation at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.”
Well, there are fictitious narratives being created, but they’re not coming from critics — they’re coming from the same Left-wing administrators who embrace these failed social engineering plans that are literally killing our kids.
Despite the fact that the Parkland students were well-aware of Cruz’s problems — they escalated as he progressed in school — not once did anyone think that by charging him with a crime (legitimately — not make one up) — he wouldn’t have been able to purchase the weapon he used to kill.
One of the angriest people of all after learning about this is Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. — especially after he and NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch were roasted and grilled live via CNN at a “town hall” shortly after the murders, as though he and the NRA were at fault.
Liberalism kills. It killed again in Parkland.
