Just days ago, an Oklahoma mother and her daughter found themselves in the middle of a tense shoot-out with a gun-wielding man trying to rob their liquor store. Footage of the exchange was caught on a security camera, and shows the two women grabbing a pair of handguns from behind the counter after the armed man reportedly began demanding cash.
The mother started to open fire on the man, and just moments later, the man grabbed her and threw her to the ground. The daughter fired off a shot as she watched her mom struggle, and the suspect immediately fled from the scene.
Police have stated that one of the women was injured in the attack, but thankfully is expected to recover. The robber, on the other hand, is currently at a nearby hospital in critical condition.
While the fake news liberal media may not like to report on it, the fact is that guns are used in self-defense much more often than many Americans even realize. Back in 2013, a report put out by the Centers for Disease Control indicated that “self-defense can be an important crime deterrent,” and that there is a significant difference in outcome between victims who use guns when attacked and victims that use other means of protection.
“Studies that directly assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns (i.e., incidents in which a gun was ‘used’ by the crime victim in the sense of attacking or threatening an offender) have found consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies,” the study states. (Related: Here’s why women are joining gun clubs to learn self-defense skills.)
The report also notes that “violent crimes, including homicides specifically, have declined in the past five years,” and that “some firearm violence results in death, but most does not.” As a matter of fact, this study put out by the CDC indicates that most incidents in which a firearm goes off do not result in a fatality.
“In 2010, incidents in the U.S. involving firearms injured or killed more than 105,000 Americans, of which there were twice as many nonfatal firearm-related injuries (73,505) than deaths,” the report states.
Yet even though there are hundreds of thousands of examples of how firearms are used to save lives and protect innocent people, the liberals still insist on doing away with the Second Amendment and implementing strict gun control regulations. If they really wanted to minimize the violence like the shooting we recently witnessed in Florida, then they would acknowledge the fact that the people need to have the ability to defend themselves.
The problem that conservatives and liberty-loving Americans need to work to resolve is this overwhelming and irrational fear of firearms that our society seems to have developed. Thanks largely to the mainstream media and Hollywood, guns are seen as nothing but killing machines that leave behind a trail of death and destruction everywhere they go. We need to break through this gross misrepresentation and make people understand that firearms are a tool for good, not evil. Read more at Shootings.news.
