Jeremy Hunt MP, who currently heads the Department of Health and Social Care, said in a statement that young people have a right “to determine what happens to their own bodies,” even if that means allowing them to use drug treatments that can lead to sterilization and stunted growth.
The UK Government is currently in the process of considering a 2016 parliamentary report demanding that “trans issues” become a “mandatory” part of school curriculum, that children as young as 16 years old can change their gender without the consent of their parents, and that sex changes become “fast-tracked.”
Jeremy Hunt initially released this statement in response to a petition started by a Christian group called Voice for Justice UK, which is in the process of gaining signatures in an attempt to ban surgical and hormonal sex-change treatment for all children under the age of 18. Voice for Justice cited multiple reports that reveal that the number of people who regret changing genders and seek to reverse the procedure after its complete is steadily on the rise. The group also spoke out against the fact that in some cases, children as young as four years old are being brainwashed with transgender propaganda in school. (Related: Transgender characters are now being placed in TV shows to indoctrinate young children.)
“The inevitable result is that increasing numbers of children are seeing themselves as having been born in ‘the wrong body’ and are demanding treatment,” reads the petition. “While some children may genuinely suffer from gender dysphoria, it is medically well documented that expression of such feelings are frequently both normal and transient, and without intervention naturally dissipate over time.”
The assertions made in this petition are correct on multiple levels. First and foremost, schools are beginning to teach children to embrace this transgender ideology which, needless to say, is entirely inappropriate and irrelevant to the overall education process. Last August, the Washington Examiner published an article on how the Minnesota Department of Education has developed a toolkit for public schools to use, which claims to “ensure a safe and supportive transition” for young boys who would like to become young girls and vice versa.
The 11-page toolkit on “Safe and Supportive Schools for Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Students” informs teachers on how to treat students that may be considering transitioning from one gender to the other, and encourages parents to show “acceptance and support of their child’s gender identity.” Apparently, the parents of Minnesota are too stupid to make decisions for their own children and need the Department of Education to step in and show them what to do.
Second, Voice for Justice UK is correct in their assertion that those who “feel” transgender lose their feelings over time. According to Dr. Paul R. McHugh, the former psychiatrist-in-chief for Johns Hopkins Hospital and its current Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry, studies have shown that 70 to 80 percent of children who had expressed transgender feelings at one point had “spontaneously lost those feelings” over time.
Transgenderism is a mental illness, and our school systems should not be teaching our children that the difference between a boy and a girl is based on thoughts and feelings rather than on science and biology. It really is a shame that societies around the world are throwing facts out the window in exchange for political correctness and a twisted social justice mindset.
