As it turns out, even the Internet isn’t safe from this sort of “diversity-above-all-else” mentality. In a recent interview with Breitbart News, a Google employee who uses the alias “Hal” admitted that the company routinely puts diversity and social justice at the top of their priority list – even above technology.
After Breitbart reporter Allum Bokhari asked a question regarding what it was like to work at Google, Hal explained that the company intentionally hires social justice activists who “spend all day fighting the culture war and get nothing done.” He continued, “The diversity gospel has been woven into nearly everything the company does, to the point where senior leaders focus on diversity first and technology second. The companywide ‘Google Insider’ emails used to talk about cool new tech, but now they’re entirely about social justice initiatives. Likewise, the weekly all-hands ‘TGIF’ meetings used to focus on tech, but now they’re split about 50/50 between tech and identity politics signaling.”
For conservative employees who disagree with Google’s focus on diversity instead of technology, Hal says it is most certainly a hostile environment. He explained that many of them “have been driven out of the company or fired outright for sharing a dissenting view,” and that “others have had their promotions denied or suffered other forms of deniable retaliation.” Because of this, Hal admitted that most employees keep their heads down and their mouths shut out of fear of losing their jobs.
The one thing that liberals hate even more than a lack of diversity is when people expose the sheer ridiculousness of it. Just days ago, a software engineer at Google released a document titled “Google’s Ideological Echo Chamber,” in which he gave his opinion on the company’s lack of ideological diversity. The Google employee argues that the disparity between men and women is not the result of sexism or misogyny, but rather biological differences that are beyond anyone’s control.
As you might expect, the employee’s manifesto went viral and prompted a response from Google’s Vice President for Diversity, Integrity, and Governance, Danielle Brown. The tech giant’s diversity chief stated that the memo’s author made “incorrect assumptions” about gender, and that the views that were expressed do not reflect the overall viewpoint of the company.
Incredibly, the employee who came forward with criticisms about Google’s priorities was fired just days after the memo was released. In an ironic twist, CEO Sundar Pichai released a statement explaining that the company really does respect differences of opinion, but then went on to say that the spread of gender stereotypes would not be tolerated. It is abundantly clear that in addition to focusing more on technology, Google should be embracing ideological diversity. They should be making an effort to be more accepting of those that do not subscribe to the left wing, social justice philosophy, and by firing a man who openly shared legitimate criticisms of the company, Google has sadly proven that it is going in the exact opposite direction.
