Lying in the name of science - 3 key scientific influencers who lie to intentionally mislead the public

(NaturalNews) Bias in academia and especially scientific research is, unfortunately, not a new occurrence. It has been going on for years and has gotten so bad that now, millions of Americans are so skeptical of "science" in general they don't believe much of anything.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the debate over global warming/climate change. For decades the world has been told that Mankind's activities are moving the planet closer to becoming inhabitable. In the 1970s, Time magazine ran a cover story claiming that the "next Ice Age" was upon us because of the industrialization of humankind; less than a decade later, however, "science" was claiming that in reality, societal industrialization was causing global warming instead. After nearly two decades of constant average temperatures and no further evidence of "warming," "scientists" then changed the language of the issue from global warming to "climate change."

"How reliable is academic research? Not very, it seems, after noting that the Journal of Vibration and Control, a reputable academic publication, had to retract 60 different papers over the summer," wrote Naomi Schaefer Riley for the New York Post in October.

But one of the reasons why science these days is often so mistrusted is because it is misused or, more accurately, misappropriated - by hucksters, con men and even learned individuals who are co-opted by special interests. Today, we profile three of them:

-- Jon Entine: This biotech shill, character assassination operative, Forbes.com writer, American Enterprise Institute fellow, University of California-Davis fellow and George Mason University research fellow also has ties to Monsanto and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation [http://www.naturalnews.com].

Arthur E. Berman, a petroleum geologist and consultant to the energy sector; editorial board member of The Oil Drum; Associate Editor of the AAPG Bulletin; Director of The Association for the Study of Peak Oil; wrote a letter to George Mason University dated July 4, 2011, that he also posted online on his blog, in which he sought to refute claims and assertions made by Jon Entine in his Real Clear Politics column published a few days earlier, on July 1, "Natural Gas "Bubble" Report: Market Tinkering or Shoddy Reporting?" In part, Berman wrote:

His post contains errors, exaggerations and untrue statements that cannot be substantiated, and thereby jeopardize George Mason University's legal position and reputation as an honest broker of information.

He then went onto list the numerous and various errors in Entine's piece.

-- Jonathan Gruber: Most Americans now know him as the "architect of Obamacare" - and a serial liar, which he justified as necessary in order to get the Affordable Care Act passed.

As I wrote just a few days ago, Gruber admitted that a "lack of transparency" helped the Obama Administration and congressional Democrats pass the onerous law that become known as Obamacare.

The conservative group American Commitment posted Gruber's remarks, which were reportedly made at an Oct. 17, 2013, event, on YouTube.

"Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage," says the MIT economist who helped write Obamacare. "And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass."

-- Neil deGrasse Tyson: Reddit rock star and major figure in the modern era's skeptic movement, this man has been found to be, quite frankly, a fraud. As Natural News reported in October:
