(NaturalNews) When she actually makes public appearances and isn't coughing or fainting, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton loves to pretend to be some kind of political outsider who sides with the people. But she's so in bed with special interests -- and has been for decades -- that Clinton has earned for herself such campaign-destroying nicknames as the "
Bride of Frankenfood," a denotation for her strong financial and political ties to agrichemical giants like Monsanto.
Clinton doesn't necessarily beat around the bush when it comes to her support for biotechnology, but many of her supporters still don't seem to know how aggressively she's lobbied on behalf of its use and purveyance. When the issue came up at a 2015 meeting of Democrats in Iowa, a geographical hotbed of genetically-modified (GM) corn and soybeans, many of Clinton's now-former supporters were apparently in shock.
A large faction of women who had reportedly been vehement supporters of Clinton's bid for the White House prior to the revelation of her love affair with GMOs expressed outrage when the issue came up at the meeting. Since finding out the truth, nearly all of them have abandoned their support for the current Secretary of State, who in recent days has been suffering serious health problems that could lead to a bitter campaign end.
"I was surprised, because these women were really pushing for Hillary until they found out
about the Monsanto connection, and then they dropped her like a hot potato," stated James Berge, a Democratic Party chairman from Worth County, Iowa, to
The Washington Times. "It's quite a big issue. There's people who are just wild about all the use of GMOs."
Hillary Clinton and Monsanto go way backApparently there were some pretty big misconceptions as to Clinton's position on the matter within her own ranks, despite the fact that she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, have long had a cozy relationship with Big Industry. The Clintons are no strangers to Big Ag lobbying, their infamous Clinton Foundation sustaining a steady relationship with Monsanto over the years.
If the thought of having to consume unlabeled, Clinton-backed GMO food scares the heck out of you, by the way, you might want to check out a non-GMO, backyard growing option
like the Vertical Garden Tower.
"Iowa is a big agricultural state, but we've got to realize some of the food that we are producing in this country is going to cause great health effects down the road, and then it's probably going to be too late to try to fix it," Berge added. "You can't even wash this pesticide off because it is in the plants themselves, and you are digesting it, and it goes into your body. It's not a good thing."
If that wasn't bad enough, Clinton hired as the adviser to her "Ready for
Hillary" Super PAC a former Monsanto lobbyist by the name of Jerry Crawford, who played an instrumental role in all those infamous lawsuits Monsanto has filed over the years against small farmers whose farms became contaminated by Monsanto seeds that drifted from nearby farms. Crawford is also notorious for bribing politicians for favors on behalf of his employer -- something
Hillary Clinton is all too familiar with, if you've been paying attention.
Even going back to the Vince Foster days -- remember his mysterious "suicide?" -- Hillary Clinton has been directly involved with Monsanto. During the time when Clinton was a partner at the Arkansas-based Rose Law Firm, the group named among its clients none other than Monsanto, as well as many other agribusiness companies. Clinton has also sided with chemical companies in lawsuits involving damage caused by toxic pesticides and herbicides.
